Loving All of You

In Glow by Raven Kennedy, we pick up exactly where we left off, with Auren just killing Midas and everyone in the Fourth Kingdom gang coming to terms with everything that's happened. Let's just get into the review!!

We get the perspective of many of the characters in this book. We get some of the background of Slade, we see the machinations of Queen Kaila, a small dose of Queen Malina- who is in fact, NOT dead, Osrik and Rissa. I could have done without seeing Osrik and Rissa's budding romance but I know it's going to be important somehow. Queen Kaila is a manipulative Monarch if there ever was one. It seems that all of the Monarchs have all gotten way too comfortable where they are and will do anything to stay in power. Including lying, which Queen Kaila manages to display throughout this book. It's hard to imagine that Slade is the only good ruler out of them all. But I guess after being born and raised in this life, since the rule is hereditary, makes it harder for the others to be down to earth. Which we definitely have seen first hand with Queen Malina. Her arrogance has gotten her in the predicament where she has had to flew her kingdom and has now helped usher in a new war between Annwyn and Orea. One that Orea doesn't seem to be equipped to handle considering most of their Monarchs seem more apt to playing Game of Thrones.

We learn a lot about how Slade grew up and how he was able to be trained in his power. We get a glimpse into life in Annwyn through meeting young Slade. He definitely had a rough time of it. We also get the story behind Deadwell and why it meant so much to him. Auren also recovers from the power drain as well as what Slade had to do to save her. We get to see her train to get stronger as well as see her come into her own power wise. She has to over come her trauma from being carved up and manipulated by Midas for much of her formative years. We get more on her background before Midas as well.  Overall this was a good read, though I just wanted Auren to get a little more wins on her side. I was hoping she would be able to get a little payback and actually FEEL like Slades equal. Instead she's still the damsel in distress. The spice was off the charts. I give it a 4 out of 5 for the spice and a 3 out of 5 overall. I'm ready for the last book in this series but unfortunately I'll have to wait a YEAR!!
