Captive Shadows- ARC Review

Image
So, at first, I was not going to finish this book because by 43% I was already like where the heck is this story going. I was so shocked and flabbergasted by what was going on that I just had to keep going. I started thinking about it out loud and it just seemed to get crazier and crazier by the minute. It was like watching a soap opera unfold. Like....one of the crazy reality shows that's on tv. After spending some days to ponder on my feelings about this book, I think that while the story wasn't something that I traditionally read and like..it did it's job. I'm not even sure what to rate this book. After finishing the story, I just know that it is a book that is going to stick with me simply because it was so just outrageous. I guess I'm going to give it a 3 because, I'm DEFINITELY not going to forget the things nor the characters that were in this book. I would tell someone going into reading this to just...read it for the craziness because...this was an

Real Life vs Reel Life

Do you like reading books that coincide with your real life? Maybe you were reading a romance book and one of the main characters happen to have the same career or job that you have or have had in the past. Does this make you more likely to read the book or do you find yourself comparing everything to what is in the book? The most common job that I had was as someone working in a grocery store. With most of the popular books being bIllionaire romance, I know it's probably less common now to find books were the main characters have basic careers. On the off chance that you do find a book like that. Does it make the story more interesting and relatable or does it make the book lean more towards a DNF for you? I think that it would be very interesting to see that a character had a job that I could relate to. So whenever I come across a character who has a customer service type job, I always feel for them. That field is not for the faint of heart that's for sure! Since

Those books that warm you spirit whenever you think about them. Books that make you just happy whenever you think about them. Comfort reads. What makes a book a comfort read? To me, it's books that were the perfect storm. They are spicy but had plot. The characters are developed well enough that I feel like I know them. Characters that leave such an impression on me that I just can't stop thinking about them, even after I've finished them. I'm talking about books that even if you finish reading it they make you compare every other book to them. They tend to cause you to have book hangovers after you finish reading them. Sometimes you can't even explain why that book in particular sticks with you, it just does. Maybe it was the amazing world that the author created or maybe it's just the idea. These are the books that sometimes Fanfics originate from. I know the ones that I have in mind, live rent free in my head and I probably have made a million fanfics i
