Speak of the Demon - Review

Image
I liked this book. It was a good start to a series. I've had this one sitting on my TBR for a good minute and finally decided to take the plunge and I'm not disappointed! The was a lot going on in the beginning that we had to unravel and even after the this story concluded there is still more unknowns out there. Our couple hasn't officially gotten together yet but I'm sure the powers that be have noticed how things are progressing with them. I can't wait for more on Danicas history and seeing how she comes to terms with having feelings for Samael.     There was just tension in this book pretty much.  No spice really. It is definitely firmly in the 2 category when it comes to spice but I'm hoping for more in the next book. Overall I gave this book a 4 because it was interesting enough to keep my attention and I want to learn more about these characters. I'd recommend this book and I'm picking up book 2 in this series! Happy New Year!!

The Brightest Light of Sunshine- Review

Image
This book was absolutely amazing. Once I picked it up, I didn't want to put out down! It is so wholesome and just left me with such an amazing feeling after reading it. Cal and Grace have such an amazing romance! The patience and understanding that they both showed each other in the face of hardship was exactly what the other needed. They were able to support each other despite the issues that they both were personally dealing with. This book highlights that you're not your trauma and that growth is possible even when it seems bleak. Also huge hand clap for the amount of representation in this book! There are same sex couples, people who identify as non binary and people of different races. The whole thing just felt so real world as opposed to other authors who almost pretend that people who are different don't exist. The respect that was shown was amazing and I enjoyed reading this. Nothing felt unnecessary or forced about the story. It was 400 pages of bea

Sin & Lightening- Review

I'm going to gush peeps, because honestly...I loved this book. I really did. I was not able to put this book down after I started it. This series is just so good! The humor, the banter, the spice, everything was just...great! I love Kieran and Alexis's story. Watching them grow together while navigating the dangerous world of Demigods has been so much fun. I'm almost sad it's going to end in the next book! These characters deserve a spin off! I want more of The Six (five) because they each have such character that you can't help but love them as much as the main characters! Daisy and Mordecai are so funny and different. I'm not ready to say bye! I applaud KF Breene for making this amazing world that I want to live in!!    The spice was not too much and was HOT!! I'd give the spice about a 4 out of 5. It was hot and just enough. I wouldn't have said no to one more scene but I loved it all the same. Overall I gave this book a 5 out of 5. I r

Primal Possession- Review

Image
Liam and December are such a cute couple!! I haven't read the other books in this series yet but I have loved their story! They were both very well rounded characters who I felt like I knew well by the time the book ended.  I cheered for them when they decided to make it work and I hurt for them when the tragedies in their lives happened or were revealed.  The "side" characters are also very well done as well.  We see Connor and Anna who I assume were in the previous book and I love interconnected stories! Liam wasn't the alpha of the pack but this didn't detract from him and how strong he can't across at all.  Sometimes characters can come across as weak when they aren't THE alpha so I really appreciated that in this story.  Strong female relationships are always a plus in my book so seeing Kat and December be the best of friends throughout this was great.  The lonely, I have no friends,  idea is sometimes hard to imagine. I am going to go

Grim- Review

Image
This was a pretty good spin on shifter genre. I liked how things were broken down and explained in regards to the relationship the shifters have with everyone else within their world. It gives the author so much opportunity to make each characters story unique. It could also be said that this could be set up for an interconnected series that could go on for awhile. I like that. Grim and Journey were both broken people who needed each other. I liked how they brought in the dynamics of wolves without making it full on omegaverse. I'm not even sure what we could call Grim since he had such a domineering presence but more than once said he was not an Alpha. Hopefully we'll get to see more of Locke, who is the alpha, as well some of the others who will shape the rest of the dynamics in the pack of Rogues. This book is also inclusive, in that there is a same sex couple in the story. Seeing that there wasn't an issue with this was also a nice thing about this story. I&

Vengeance of a Mafia Queen- Review

Image
This book was so good!! I love a great morally dark FMC!! It's rare to come across a FMC who can hang with the guys when it comes to the dark stuff so this was nice to read!! What makes it even better was she was that way BEFORE she met the FMC. The last one I remember who had me cheering for her was the FMC in the Mindf*ck series!! The men looked up to Catrina and respected her despite this being a mafia book and that not being the typical thing in their world. Catrina is smart, strong and beautiful and used all of that to her advantage while on her rampage. I was here for it!! Until she came across Massimo. Then everything changed and it was for the better in the long run. It wasn't easy getting there but once they did the Romance was beautiful. They both deserved the ending because they went through so much! I'd love to get a story on more of the characters in this world! Like I've said before, I love stories that immerse you in what is happening and

End of the Month Wrap-Up: November '23

End of the Month Wrap Up: November Another month comes to an end and here's to almost being done with this year!! 2023 is coming to a close really quickly and we still have December to look forward to. This month was filled with continuations of series that I have already fell in love with and it will be hard to put them in categories this time. I finished the Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac series and read quite a few ARCs. It was definitely a great month!! What were you able to finish this month? As the holiday season is in full swing are you going to be endulging in some holiday reads? For some reason, they aren't really my thing. But there are some that bring together the characters that I've missed in series and I love getting another glimpse into their worlds. Throw some of your favorite holiday reads in the comments and I'll try some of them out!!  With that being said, let's go ahead and get into the categories for the month! Let's recap what I read this m

Midnight Magic- ARC Review

We are back with the Clover Pack!! Kinda... this book starts off where the previous one left off.  So actually we're in the Fae Realm lol. With this book we get so many reveals that I almost couldn't handle it!! Questions you had in the first book,  ANSWERS we get!! It was perfectly spaced out as not to overwhelm us and we got to meet so many new characters!! I don't know who I want to read about more now!! I how after Rowans story is complete we get more of the people we've met in this book. My heart was almost broken though, I won't even tell you who but someone almost DIED!! I was like,  please no,  not again!! The last book hurt me enough,  I couldn't handle it if we lost someone else. Luckily we didn't and more love interest have popped up.  I just really enjoy getting to dive into a world that makes me care about the other characters as well as the main crew.     This book had more spice in it than the first.  I'd give it a 3 out

Brutal Intentions Review!!

Image
There are random body parts that are randomly attractive to people but I've never fallen for a book cover because of it. This book cover I definitely did. I don't know whose hands these are but they are sexy.  Ok random cover love moment over. This book dabbles in the taboo and I kinda liked it. I'm usually not one for step anything romance but this... whew. Yes,  there technically is cheating.... but I'm ok with it. Mia's mom is a grade A bitch and is just one of those people who doesn't really deserve happiness. That's kinda mean but she was nearly pure evil. The circumstances around them getting together was terrible and coerced. I think I would have felt different if they were in a happy marriage with issues and then some woman stepped in and messed things up for the couple. That's far from how things were in this story. Like I feel bad for Mia's sister.  I hope she gets a happy ending *cough* please Lilith *cough*. Things prog

His Darkest Deceit Review

I love a good omegaverse read from Addison!! This one was a little different. It was definitely very unique in the way she introduced us to the characters and how the world works here. I feel like we'll get more info in the next book but man, this book almost throws me back to the first time I read Born to be Bound. I loved that book so much that re-read it constantly. I can't get enough of Shepard. I don't know if I feel that way about this MMC yet. I feel like I need more information on this world because I feel as lost as the FMC at the moment. The moving male anatomy is...interesting. It's a little hard for me to picture in my mind right now but it's definitely different.  As we learn more about the general, he becomes that much more interesting. I also want more on Maeve and her general. Hopefully they'll get a spin off. I liked this book.      The spice was nice. Addison definitely knows what's she's doing with the spicy scenes. Even

Unholy Matrimony Review

Hold on.... my phone is still coming down for how HOT the spice is in this book!! If you need a nice pallet cleanser then this is it right here.  It has enough spice to drown out any other book you might have read that left you wanting something a little hotter. The story itself is a little predictable until the end.  Though Kalina does throw in some curve balls for ya.  She definitely surprised me sometimes.  The little church girl has some kick to her!! There is a lot of foreshadowing of what happens at the end but how it all went down was surprising to say the least.      Like I said earlier the spice is spicing in this book.  Like maybe a 10 out of 5 because whew.  It was hot. Burning off the pages. Overall I gave this book a 3 out of 5. I like a good balance in my books but I'm definitely not mad at the spice. Like whew, if you ever need a little moment,  pick this up because it'll get ya there.  My main gripes with the story was all the Russian. Because there

Bound to the Playboy Billionaire Review!

This book was....interesting. It had some good parts but for the most part felt very disjointed. I don't mind a book that starts out with the spicy but I didn't really care for the way this one did it. I knew from the start that it wasn't going to feel very cohesive when the main characters first met and had a one night stand. It didn't flow right. Like one second the FMC is intoxicated and is falling asleep to then she's awake and banging the MMC. Which idk maybe it's because when I'm intoxicated enough to fall asleep, that's pretty much all I'm going to be doing that night. Most of the things that happened didn't feel believable because it wasn't thorough enough. Like I believed the main characters disliked each other more than anything because most of the time we see them, they don't really seem to like each other. Then BAM, oops I tripped into love. But also don't mind me crying and in general disliking the guy. Who

Warrior Fae Review!

The conclusion of this series was long and heart breaking!! We finally find out what happened to Gareth and OMG it hurt. I felt all the things. The ending of this book was just whew full of emotes. I liked the story overall but felt like this one could have been cut more.  There were some things that didn't feel like it was necessary to the plot that were just thrown in. Like I would have preferred more depth to the ending portion than the randoms that popped up in the middle of the story. It didn't take away from the enjoyment of the story but once you hit the ending you realize the wasted time. I think it was a good conclusion to the series but it still left me wanting more.  Which I guess we get in the next series Zodiac Academy.  Though mainly through random reappearances of characters from this one. I'm on the fence about starting that series.  We'll see how things go.       The spice was spicing in this one.  Especially since the guys get pretty mu

Broken Fae Review

Yall. The way they left us on a cliff hangar!! I can't even deal!! I haven't binged through a series like this in awhile. This one though, I'm immediately starting the next one. Like no stop, insta download. I enjoyed this book so much! There were some slow moments in the middle but man has things just kicked up a notch. We have the mystery of Gareths death almost solved and I'm on edge!! We have made it up to hours before his death and I just need to know what happened!! In current time we have a lead on who Elise's dad is!! We get so much emotional reveals with her that it's insane! I was almost in tears right along with her. The guys also have their emotional moments with Ryder having the most growth in this book. I've loved getting them to come back to Elise. I can't wait for this final book!!    The spice in this one has been the best so far! We've had great 1 on 1 moments with the guys as well as some amazing group scenes!! I'

Vicious Fae Review!!

Image
Wow. This book is definitely my favorite one out of the series so far. There was so much happening!! We get more insight into the things that lead up to Gareths death. Everything was unraveling for him and its so sad to see. I almost want him to not really be dead but I know that wouldn't be right for the story. The guys are slowly but surely warming up to each other, even though Gabriel is still being a sucky Mcsuckypants. Finally getting the deal between Dante and Ryder out of the way was PERFECTION!! I can't wait to read more in this series. That ending hurt me. It was so good and I couldn't see it going any other way but it also hurt so badly. The pain that everyone is feeling right now is just ugh. I hope they are able to get everything together in this next book. Which I think I may be jumping right into because I just can't leave so much unknown.     The spice in this book is perfect!! The scenes are so hot!! We finally get a Ryder and Dante sandw

End of the Month Wrap Up- October '23

Image
End of the Month Wrap Up October      It is once again that time of the month! I missed posting this yesterday so I had to make sure that I got it up (te he) for ya'll today! October is the best month of the year to me, of course, I am completely biased since it's also my birthday month! I tried to keep things a little bit spooky this month but I am at my heart a mood reader and I just kinda jumped wherever the mood took me. So with that being said, let's check out the books that I did read this month! Then I will jump into my categories of where some of them fell. Then it's onto November to see what books we can get in while cuddled under some warm blankets.       Favorite Character:   Morana (The Reaper)- I enjoyed Morana so much more in this second book then I did in the first one. Here we see her sticking to her guns and not letting anyone tell her anything! Even though she was in the den of the lion so to speak she still had a backbone and knew exactl

Nero Review

Image
I love my Dark Romance and this definitely fits into that category. Nero is a crime boss who is barely civil and spends most of his time killing and evading the cops. Payton is his exact opposite. She timidness and sunshine wrapped in a nice introvert package. All it takes is one time for them to take a chance on something different and they both fall harder than bricks through tissue paper. I'm usually not a fan of instalove but with the way their characters are it works perfectly. I'm hoping that through the other books in this series we see Payton grow a little more. I love that she's Nero's almost polar opposites but it would be nice to see a little of his savagery rub off on her. I enjoyed this book as I have just about all the books I've read from this author. I look forward to reading King!!    The spice in this book was great and nearly instant. There were some cringe moments with the wording but I know sometimes that can be hard and it didn&#

His Crimson Mask Arc Review

Image
Whew,  this book was long. Like, let me check what percentage I'm at long. I definitely think there was a lot of it that could have been cut out and the story would have been better. It had moments where it shined through the meaty parts but then there was also times where it bogged down really badly. I liked the story of Nikolai and Meko. It just didn't feel like a romance for a lot of it.  It went from one place to another quite often and I didn't really know what to focus on. The issue of the necromancer, the disappearing vampires, the journal,  Mekos mom, the Romance... it was just a lot. Nikolai gave me severe whiplash. Like Meko even pointed it out and I felt it as the reader. Because of that I never felt like there was a point you could see where they fell for each other for real. I don't know if the whole sunlight thing was addressed in a previous book but the fact that there was no explanation about that was... different.      The spice... wa

Blaze- ARC Review

Image
I didn't want this book to end yall. When I got to the last page I keep trying to scroll for more but there was nothing. This was such a good read! I love how we see Finn and Lena actually work through their problems so that they can come to an understanding and be the best for each other. I hope there are pups in their future because I want it so badly for them!! I felt so attached to these characters and I binge read this book. While answering so many questions we also were giving even more that I need answered!! Of course these deal more so with the other characters but with how connected they all are it'll answer some about our past MCs as well! I love Ansel and have since Smoke and we get a nice dose of him in Blaze.  I want him to meet his someone soon!! Getting a chance to get more of an insight into his power will be so cool as well!! Deacon,  oh my goodness Deacon. After Haze, I didn't think I could like him more but wow. I like that we get to see s

Book Milestones: October Throwbacks Part 1

Image
Book Milestones October Throwbacks          This time of the year is always my favorite. Not only because my birthday is this month but it's also a time that everyone comes together and embraces all things spooky! So for this edition of Book Milestones I'm going to be throwing it back to some of my favorite spooky reads from years past! This time, I'm going to highlight 4 of my favorite Vampires books to throw it back to! Let's Go!!     I remember getting this book while perusing some of the shelves in Walmart. This book was not the first in my vampire obsession but it definitely put me on the track of making it one of my favorite books. I loved the dark and gritty feel of this book and I also enjoyed characters who enjoyed Hip/Hop and rap! It was so refreshing when so many other books makes it seem like the worse music genre to hit the air waves. The characters were so down to earth and relatable. The storyline was great and the Black Dagger Brotherhood quickly become

The Reaper Review!

Image
The Reaper By RuNyx          I enjoyed getting to know Tristan and Morana a little bit more in this book. It picks up literally where the previous book left off. Morana moves from one danger to the other. Finally she starts to use some of the smarts that we've been told that she has in this book! Along with using those smarts she also begins to unravel more of the mystery of what happened to her when she was younger that made Tristan want to kill her. Man does everything unravel in a hurry towards the end of this book. The beginning was paced very nicely and then towards the end all the questions, well most of the questions that we needed answered came to us one after the other. I mean it was very bang, bang. While I appreciate that we are able to resolve a lot of the issues that were in place, I wish they were spaced out more so the impact of them was felt more. I try not to do spoilers but this my warning that I am going to talk about some spoiler stuff next. You can skip to next

Let's Talk: Buy/Sell/Trade!

Image
Let's Talk: Buy/Sell/Trade          BST groups have started to become a really big thing in the book world. With the coming of the Book Boxes and more people becoming invested in Special Edition books, the up tick in people joining these types of groups. There is of course the huge elephant in the room where there are those that prey on people who miss out on certain books flipping them for a big profit. This is something that is kind of an eye sore for most of the book world. It's even becoming a point of contention with some authors. We're going to dive into the good, the bad and the ugly that comes with being in these groups as well as talk about what I think the best practice should be in these types of situations.          As the world has become more online everyone is talking about FOMO. The fear of missing out has caused people to start buying and doing things that aren't necessarily needed just because it seems to be the "In" thing to do. With bo

Finding Her Luck Review

Image
This was a short read and will be an even shorter review!! I liked this book!! It was spicy, it flowed and was interesting. The world that this book encompasses is such a mishmash of things. The people who our FMC come from seem to be very basic and prefer to live like things are from a more primitive time. Yet they admit that there are places where things are advanced and there is technology. So it's almost like they are Amish living on the edges of society. Then there are the Orki, which we find out are genetically engineered beings that were pretty much created to be killing machines. This world is just so fascinating!! I want to learn more!      This book was spicy!! Not like overtaking the plot kind of spicy but whew. Those scenes were definitely hot!! I'd give it a 4 out of 5. There was only a few but they did their job. Overall I gave this book a 4. Even though it was short and sweet it was a nice sweet. I didn't really want to leave this world. I

Mist Guild Archive- ARC Review

Image
This was a different take on vampires which is always refreshing. This was an ok read. There was some things I liked about this book but there was also a few issues. I'll start with what I liked! The idea of melodies is a different concept. Of course it has been explored but there has always been a mate type meaning behind it. In this story it doesn't have to be a mate. Any melody will have the same effect on a vampire. This is pretty much a built in issue for the characters to solve and I love that there can be so many different ways for this to be handled in a story. The idea of witches and warlocks who are changed into vampires feeling like a party of them dies due to their inability to feel magic like before was also a nice touch. Now onto the things I didn't quite like. The beginning of this story felt very disjointed to me. Nothing felt like it was just flowing well. It was like,  one thing happened,  chapter ended, next thing happened but the two thi

Savage Fae Review

Image
The way this book ended blew the other book out of the wayer!! We are on the brink of an internal war within one of the gangs and man, this has made things interesting!! We got some new reveals from the Gareth from the grave. My main suspects from the first book are the same. I still believe that the principal and Cindy Lou are involved with Gareths death. I've added rat guy as well Nightshade to that group after this book. I'm trying to stay relatively spoiler free in this review so no big time reveals but..omg. Finding out that Ryder was caught for doing something naughty previously was crazy!! I was very shocked! All the characters have begun to grow on me but none more than Leon Night! He's the sweetest little lion!! We get to get some more insight on him in this book and I was here for it. Actually we kinda got more insight on all the guys in this boom. They've all melted a little bit more for Elise. It's just been such a fun ride and I'm look

End of The Month Wrap Up- September '23

Image
We are here again with another End of the Month Wrap Up. It's crazy to say that I can't believe it again but we have burned through this month in a blink. I have gone on a trip and come back and here we are, at the end of the month once again!! I didn't do as much reading as I wanted to since I fell into a slump during the middle of the month. Still all of the books that I read were interesting in their own way. So let's see where all these books fell this month!       Favorite Character:   Avery- Avery from Wonder Light is my selection as favorite character of the month!! I loved that she decided to take some time for herself and do something crazy. Sometimes doing something different can be just what we need to shock our systems and can reset us. Especially when we you go through something traumatic. I also loved her location choice! Most of the places that she went to in this book are places that I also visited. Her personality was almost exactly like
