Mid-Month Update!!

Image
This will actually be my update this time! So I am so pleased with the progress that I have been making this year with my reading challenge. I've even been thinking of raising it to 100!! Though I was also thinking that seeing myself achieve this goal first would be more beneficial. So with the addition of audiobooks, I hope that I would be able to eat through my challenge quickly. Not to mention, I didn't know that there were some free audiobooks! I downloaded almost the entire Never After series and have added it to my TBR!! I'm kinda glad that I did because I really enjoyed the first one. So from here on out you will start to see some more audiobooks as well. I might have to another category to my end of the month wrap up where I rank the best voice actors that I have for that month. Some of these voice actors are amazing. I know that when I listened to Painted Scars that the male voice actor had me melting. Omg that accent that he has is amazing...drool. Let me not ge

Hooked - Review

This was a very unique take on the classic story of Peter Pan. For once Peter was not the good guy! He wasn't even the villain that we were all secretly rooting for...he was just...bad. So was Tinkerbell. I really enjoyed this since it was such a refreshing take on all the characters. They all made their appearances of course. The lost boys, Smee, Crocodile and of course Hook. They were all present but seen with such different eyes that I was able to step into the story and marvel at how things went. Wendy of course was the main focus of the story and through her we see all the characters. While I was hoping that she was going to have a little bit more backbone she still managed to shine as the star of the story. She was able to show that she had a little bit of back bone at the end of the story and man was I happy that she did. Hook was the MMC in this story and with his accent (I listened to the audible version) he was just there to sweep all the ladies off their feet!

King of Diamonds- Review

This was a good read. This was a very different approach at the mafia leader MMC. We are used to seeing the tough guy who commands all the spaces that he's in and isn't afraid to dole out pain when necessary. I definitely didn't really get that vibe from Nico. I think Nico wanted to stay within the lines of being a mafia man but also be a good guy. He was the cleaner but kept everything above board. He was willing to throw a punch when needed but preferred the peaceful route. He had his rough edges but we see him mostly mellow out more with the addition of Sondra. Sondra on the other hand wanted to walk on the wild side even though she was the kind straight forward type. Working for and meeting mafia guys was a dream of hers and with Nico, she got her wish.     My main gripe with this story lies with Sondra. She just had weird reactions to things. Like the way she reacted when meeting Nico in the beginning of the book kinda threw me off. The reaction with the ex

What's In A Rating??

It's time for my mid month update!! I have been on a reading spree!! It has been so fun! I have been finding so many fun and amazing books and authors!! I'm on track to read more books than I did last month and that's crazy because I think last month was a record! I read 12 books last month which most of them were ARC's. The shortest month but had the most books read. So, along with updating everyone on my progress with my goodreads challenge, I also want to update everyone with where I am in regards to my ratings. So I have a pretty solid chart with how things fall with my spice but I don't think I've really ironed out my actual rating scale for everyone. I'll be making this a separate post as well but I want to also add it here while it's heavily on my mind.      When it comes to the rating of books, this is pretty much how I rate them: Would not recommend. Probably DNF'd. I usually try not to post these on my other socials because it can be hurtf

Fire In His Blood - Review

I read this book awhile ago and yet it still managed to make an impression on me. Enough that I started to eat up Ruby Dixon's backlog. Though I never reviewed it or anything. Here I am now going back and listening to it in the audiobook form. Shout out to the male voice actor because the amount of times that he had to repeat that same stretch of words when Kyle was in the madness was intense!  So yes, this book features a dystopian theme that I didn't know I loved so much until I jumped into this series. The whole idea of the world being forced to reset and people going back to the things that really mattered, hit home for me. Kyle and Claudia were some very interesting characters. Claudia was someone who did what she had to do to provide for those that she cares for. She definitely had the oldest child syndrome. I applaud her for her strength and for not taking anything from those in power. Even though she was powerless to stop them. When she meets Kyle, the stumble th

Down For the Count - Review

This book had me on edge. I was hoping that things would work out for Sawyer and Kingston. This is definitely a specialty of Stacey's. You feel the sadness and get emotional with the characters and then the light at the end of the tunnel is revealed. I enjoyed this book,  it had so many different levels of gratification. By the end I was relieved but also sad because I didn't want it to end.     The spice in this book was HOT. Another thing you can count on from this author. I mean it was hot off the presses good. Like a reread for piano playing type good. 5 out of 5 good. Overall I gave this book a 4 out of 5. Mainly because the ending was super traumatic for poor Hadley and it went by too fast. I wanted some drawn out satisfaction by the time we got to the end. I wanted more for our mains by the end as well. Like I know they were happy with how things ended but I wanted it to rain on them like a Fat Joe song. I'd recommend this book if you like being knock
