Barbarians Prize - Review

Another book down in my re-read series!!! This book was another step in a positive direction for the humans who are on the Ice Planet! This time we get the story of Tiffany and Salukh! I think they had probably one of the more beautiful stories yet. Salukh wanted to save himself for the woman who he finally resonated with and Tiffany was afraid due to the abuse that she suffered. I think that this story was interesting because it definitely was giving that strong women feel. Tiffany was trying to carry her burdens alone and it wasn't really helping her at all. While I could understand some the things that she had going on and why her reactions were the way they were, it still didn't stop me from being a little frustrated with her. Of course Salukh was there to hold her and help her get through her trauma and I liked that at the end of the book, it showed that he was not the cure all for her nightmares. She still had them but he was there to help her get through them no matter...

Fire in His Spirit - Review

Another solid entry in the Fireblood Dragons series by Ruby Dixon. I don't think I made it this far in this series when I was first reading this series so it feels like a whole new world that I'm learning. Gwen and Vaan were a nice couple. I liked that the more places that we discover, we are able to find more women who are able to bond with the dragons. I hope that we get some more dragons in this area and I think that we also are going to get a female dragon at some point. I wonder if we will get a garderner or someone who is proficient at growing things to assist the people get some things back up and running. Maybe even an engineer? That would be so cool to see someone attempting to rebuild some of the things in the world that were lost. I mean a great point was brought up in this book. There are people with medical conditions that would not survive long in this world due to them not being able to get their medication. Maybe we can even find a chemist that survived. Being...

Barbarian Mine - Review

I have to say, out of all the IPB books I've read so far, this one has been my least favorite. There was just something about how they met and then eventually got together that just didn't work for me. I think if they had more of an opportunity to get speak with each other and grow then I would have liked it better. I do know that this series is pretty fast paced when it comes to the couples getting together but I feel like this one had even less of the characters actually...doing that. I don't believe in their connection like I do with Georgie and Liz. It all felt like it happened in the blink of an eye and then she was preggers. Then with the other surprise that we have thrown at us...it...just didn't feel as nice. I definitely have to go back and read the book that I skipped but...I hope that it is better than this one was. Either I missed it or I don't think it was explained why Rukh didn't know the language of the people of the planet...nor English was a l...

Fire in His Fury - Review

Another good entry in this post-apocalyptic series! This time we are following Amy, who is like repunzel stuck in the tower. After spending a lot of time feeling like she was powerless and having to have people look at her as weak, she makes a crazy choice and leaves with a dragon. Of course things don't go as she had planned at first but Amy definitely didn't let that stop her. She was able to work through the hardships and find out things about herself that she didn't know. Not only did she discover that she is a great leader but she also was able to strengthen herself physically despite her injury. I really enjoyed this story because unlike the other women that we read about til this point, Amy was someone who was sheltered and vulnerable. She made a choice when she realized that she couldn't live the way she was anymore. Not only that but she had the courage to do it and see it through. This world is not kind to the people in it if they are not ready and willing to...

Barbarian Alien - Review

We are back again on the Ice Planet!! This time we are following Liz and Rahosh as they navigate matehood. Of course everything is peachy when they first get together considering Liz wants absolutely nothing to do with Rahosh or any of the other aliens. She wants time to adjust after hearing the news of never being able to leave again and needing to get a parasite implanted to live. Rahosh of course is only all too happy to finally find a mate and he's willing to break the rules in order to make sure she's his. We spend the majority of this book out in the wilds with them as they begin to get to know each other and face the harsh and unforgiving landscape of the ice planet. Good thing for Liz is that she's always been the outdoorsy type and this is right up her alley. The story that unfolds between the two of them was beautiful! We get some interaction with the other humans as well as a chance to see more of cave life with the tribe. More things get explained an...

End of the Month Wrap-Up - May 2024

I feel like I just made my last end of the month wrap up and here I am again doing another one. The time is passing by so fast and yet I have managed to read all the books!! I'm swimming in my own version of a book readers heaven. I have ARC's from new to me authors and I have some oldies but goodies from some of my favorites! I enjoyed all the books that I had the opportunity to read this month and I can't thank these authors enough for taking the time to write these amazing stories! I try to make sure that I compliment authors whenever I can because it takes a lot to take something that is in your head and put it out there on paper for others to judge, hate and/or love. So again thank you! I was able to read 12 amazing books this month and I had a hard time choosing where to put some of them. There was so many that were just chef's kiss. I hope that you take a chance on some of these and read what these books have to offer. I feel like I dallied on every side of the ...

Fire In His Embrace - Review

This was another great installment in this series by Ruby Dixon. Getting to know more about Emma and her past was very interesting and sad! Oh man, I felt so bad for her when she recounted her past to Zohr! She is definitely the most fiercest of the FMC's that we have met so far in the Fire Blood Dragon series. Emma is ready to get things done! It doesn't matter who she has to go against in order to get it done. In this book getting it done meant making sure that her and her dragon were safe. The rest of the characters that we've met up til this point make a reappearance in the story. I love that we keep up with Sasha and Claudia from the previous stories. And I believe that we are set up for the next couple in this story...Claudia's sister and Rast? I'm looking forward to meeting them! I think this might have been as far as I got before when I was reading this series. I might have read the next book but I don't remember. There was not a lot of down time in th...

Ice Planet Barbarians - Review

Image
Well, well, well, look what I have gotten to. I started re-reading this book and I immediately realized why I liked it. I mean it really gave the vibe of "this could happen to anyone" with how it starts out. These women were stolen from their home in the PJ's with no understanding of what was about to happen. I think this is like the premise of so many alien movies or thoughts in our heads about randomly being abducted by aliens. Of course there is definitely some triggering things that happen in the beginning of this book. If you can make it past that scene then you will be into cold alien exploring heaven! If you liked Ruby Dixon's dragon books then you will like this series as well. The aliens in this series act the same way as the dragons! I really like that about this book but also there are some differences of course but that just makes things that much more interesting. There is the something that we find out later on about the people of this planet that I h...

Fire In His Kiss- Review

I really enjoyed re-reading this book. It only took awhile to get through since I almost always forget to go back to audible. But I finally finished it!! Sasha and Dak were amazing, they were able to advance the story so much more just through their interactions with each other. We learned so much about the Drakoni and how their world was before they were thrust unto earth. I also really liked that we got set up for the next book with already established characters. Everything feels really organic and not pushed on us that it's really nice! I'm trying not to spoil but yeah there is a lot more development in this story. It took the things that were already established in the first book and elaborated even more and added that much more to the world. This is how stories should be. There was minimal downtime while reading and the story really flowed. I liked that this book showed a different dynamic in relationships. Not everyone always comes into things enjoying smexy time. We s...

Fire In His Blood - Review

I read this book awhile ago and yet it still managed to make an impression on me. Enough that I started to eat up Ruby Dixon's backlog. Though I never reviewed it or anything. Here I am now going back and listening to it in the audiobook form. Shout out to the male voice actor because the amount of times that he had to repeat that same stretch of words when Kyle was in the madness was intense!  So yes, this book features a dystopian theme that I didn't know I loved so much until I jumped into this series. The whole idea of the world being forced to reset and people going back to the things that really mattered, hit home for me. Kyle and Claudia were some very interesting characters. Claudia was someone who did what she had to do to provide for those that she cares for. She definitely had the oldest child syndrome. I applaud her for her strength and for not taking anything from those in power. Even though she was powerless to stop them. When she meets Kyle...
