Reckless Beta- ARC Review

Image
I can't believe I just found this series!! I really, really enjoyed this book!! Even though it is a series you can jump in here and not feel like you're missing vital pieces of anything. I'm definitely going to go back and read the backlog for the shifters!! In this book we have Nash and AJ! Their story was beautifully told in this book. They just couldn't keep their hands off each other!! They both have baggage that they have to deal with on top of having to watch out for the hunters that are trying to kill all shifters. I felt so bad that they couldn't even shift and had to essentially suppress their Wolves just to feel safe! As an avid shifter reader, we all should know that this is dangerous. Holding in such a vital part of yourself for as long as they have to is crazy!! This book is heavily focused on Nash and AJ but we do get glimpses into the people around them. I love getting attached to all the characters in a world and not just the main ones. T

King of Wrath - Review

I enjoyed this book! I like the arrogant, no feelings business man who ends up falling for the last woman that he should fall for trope. It usually makes for an interesting read with a feisty dynamic. It definitely didn't disappoint here. We have the man who is born into wealth and power with the arrogance to back it up in Dante. While we have the woman whose family had to earn their wealth from the bottom up, in Vivian. Throw in some cultural differences and wham, you have the cocktail for a very good read! I really liked how they had this banter with each other. Even in the beginning when they didn't really like each other. I liked how Viv could stand on her own without Dante, even though he was the prize in this situation. The beginning was a little slow but once things started to get a little more complicated with their relationship, I was invested! Ya'll know how much I love an interconnected standalone, and while this isn't fully one of those, I still apprecia

Ice Planet Barbarians - Review

Well, well, well, look what I have gotten to. I started re-reading this book and I immediately realized why I liked it. I mean it really gave the vibe of "this could happen to anyone" with how it starts out. These women were stolen from their home in the PJ's with no understanding of what was about to happen. I think this is like the premise of so many alien movies or thoughts in our heads about randomly being abducted by aliens. Of course there is definitely some triggering things that happen in the beginning of this book. If you can make it past that scene then you will be into cold alien exploring heaven! If you liked Ruby Dixon's dragon books then you will like this series as well. The aliens in this series act the same way as the dragons! I really like that about this book but also there are some differences of course but that just makes things that much more interesting. There is the something that we find out later on about the people of this planet that I h

Hunt Me - ARC Review

Another great read!! Tori and Legion, had a lot to work through, what with her having a poison touch and him with his terrible past, it was going to be a tough road. Seeing them slowly break down the walls that they both had up with each made for a great read. The trials that they ended up having to deal with as time went on helped to give them a solid foundation. Though of course the past can never stay in the past and they have to fight for everything they've tentatively built. This was such nicely told story!! I loved meeting the characters, the world was beautifully built. I have not read the first book in this series but the author did an amazing job of not making you feel like you are missing pieces if you jump in with this book first. My only thing was Tori would be so blinded by emotions that she would make dumb decisions. It's her character flaw for sure. I can't say that I wouldn't react the same in some of those situations but not all of them.

American Queen - Review

This book was so unexpectedly good! I listened to this book on audible and I really enjoyed the narrator. She did such a good job of differentiating between the character voices. Even when there was more than one person talking in a conversation she made it unique. I really look forward to reading the rest of this series especially with how this one ended! I can't believe that this happened this way! It will make what happens in the next book so interesting! I hope that the hype stays as good as it has been. In this book we meet Greer, the perfect political princess who falls in love with Maxen who just so happens to become the President. Though through a twist of fate, she ends up also falling for Embry Moore who is not only Maxen's best friend but also his vice president. The way that things played out in this book gave such a good explanation of how things work with people who live in this lifestyle. The narration added to how amazing I was able to find this book. It

Dance With The Demon

I really liked this book!! I love books that are plot thick that also have spice in them! I do wish this one had more but the plot though!! This one reminds me of how I love The Demigods of San Francisco series. There is so much going on!! So many sub plots that all nicely get resolved. We have the mini plots along with the over arching plot and love story between Danica and Samael. This is how you do side plots!! I never really felt like there was much down time in the story. It's not high energy go the whole time but it's still pretty consistent on what is going on. You feel the urgency but you can still take in the sights, if that makes sense. I can't wait to get to the next book in this series to see how things go with Samael and Danica.     There wasn't much spice in this book. It's definitely still slowly burning. We got a bright spark in this one that I wanted to bask in. Samael was slowly breaking down the walls that Danica had around her hear

Holy Blood - ARC Review

Pretty sure if you were to look up the definition of spice in the dictionary there would be an image of this book somewhere. Whew it was hot. Leonid and Kalina couldn't keep their hands off each other!! Storywise, I was slightly surprised that we didn't touch more on the trauma that Kalina must have felt after being kidnapped and held captive for as long as she was.  She is a strong woman who falls a little bit into the darkness after being saved. I will say there isn't much development of the characters after this. I think Leonid was really the only one.  He was able to fix the broken things in the Bratva and grew into an amazing father. That's probably the most beautiful thing in this book. Also I love the changes that were made with the annotations for the Russian in this book. It was much easier to digest this time. I kept forgetting they were in Russia and not America. I wish there was some details about the country more, so that it sticks out.    Lik

Fire In His Kiss- Review

I really enjoyed re-reading this book. It only took awhile to get through since I almost always forget to go back to audible. But I finally finished it!! Sasha and Dak were amazing, they were able to advance the story so much more just through their interactions with each other. We learned so much about the Drakoni and how their world was before they were thrust unto earth. I also really liked that we got set up for the next book with already established characters. Everything feels really organic and not pushed on us that it's really nice! I'm trying not to spoil but yeah there is a lot more development in this story. It took the things that were already established in the first book and elaborated even more and added that much more to the world. This is how stories should be. There was minimal downtime while reading and the story really flowed. I liked that this book showed a different dynamic in relationships. Not everyone always comes into things enjoying smexy time. We s

Eternally Rare- ARC Review

Image
This book is already out but I received it as an ARC!!  This book was interesting. I have not read any of the other books in this series but thus one seems like you can jump in without missing too much. Rarity already met one of her mates Prince Caillian before but other than that this can be read as a standalone. The story behind what happened to Rarity and her family seems very interesting. The family members were very interesting. Like I'd watch a sitcom with them as the stars. It kind of reminded me of IAD series by Kresley Cole. Having a house full of Immortals or long lived folks who all have unique and crazy personalities. I want to know more about them! Caillian, we don't really get to know much about his household and past other than what we briefly get with Nyx's father in the intro. The ice elves didn't seem too interesting but I do want to know more about his sisters. Seems like they're pretty much broadmares since they are the only ice elf f

An Omega for the Lycan Prince - Review

Image
This book was interesting. It has the humor and laughter to make you enjoy reading it. Though it's a tad bit too long. Like, things are drawn out alot. This could have been 2 books. I don't really like when stuff gets drawn out. There also doesn't seem to be a problem and a resolution. There is so much going on that when one tiny thing gets fixed there something else also going on. I think if there was one clear cut thing happening that needed to be fixed then it would have made this book more enjoyable. As it stands, I really just wanted things to end and by the half way point I was not enjoying the ride that much. The characters themselves were interesting and dynamic. They stand out as the highlight of the book. All of Liams siblings are memorable. All of Annie's friends and family are memorable. Big plus there. I love a dynamic cast.     As for the spice...I mean... there are multiple scenes but they are short and not very descriptive. Like I expected th

End of the Month Wrap Up - March Edition

Image
Well, another month down in 2024! It has been a very eventful one for me on a personal level but anything worth having is worth fighting for right? Well I am fighting for this Goodreads Challenge!! I have been consistent and trying to make sure that I take every opportunity to complete all the books that I have started. There are some of them that unfortunately just don't make the cut sometimes. There are some that grip me and give me the biggest book hangover!! I like to tell authors that no matter what us as readers think of your book, take pride in the fact that you were able to get the story out of your head and onto pages! Heck many of you even managed to get published! Whether it's through your own means or if you are traditionally published, congrats to you! That takes a lot of courage and perseverance. With all this being said, I managed to read 12 books this month! Which ties last month for the most books I've read this year! I wanted to out do myself this month bu

Mid-Month Update!!

Image
This will actually be my update this time! So I am so pleased with the progress that I have been making this year with my reading challenge. I've even been thinking of raising it to 100!! Though I was also thinking that seeing myself achieve this goal first would be more beneficial. So with the addition of audiobooks, I hope that I would be able to eat through my challenge quickly. Not to mention, I didn't know that there were some free audiobooks! I downloaded almost the entire Never After series and have added it to my TBR!! I'm kinda glad that I did because I really enjoyed the first one. So from here on out you will start to see some more audiobooks as well. I might have to another category to my end of the month wrap up where I rank the best voice actors that I have for that month. Some of these voice actors are amazing. I know that when I listened to Painted Scars that the male voice actor had me melting. Omg that accent that he has is amazing...drool. Let me not ge

Hooked - Review

Image
This was a very unique take on the classic story of Peter Pan. For once Peter was not the good guy! He wasn't even the villain that we were all secretly rooting for...he was just...bad. So was Tinkerbell. I really enjoyed this since it was such a refreshing take on all the characters. They all made their appearances of course. The lost boys, Smee, Crocodile and of course Hook. They were all present but seen with such different eyes that I was able to step into the story and marvel at how things went. Wendy of course was the main focus of the story and through her we see all the characters. While I was hoping that she was going to have a little bit more backbone she still managed to shine as the star of the story. She was able to show that she had a little bit of back bone at the end of the story and man was I happy that she did. Hook was the MMC in this story and with his accent (I listened to the audible version) he was just there to sweep all the ladies off their feet!

King of Diamonds- Review

Image
This was a good read. This was a very different approach at the mafia leader MMC. We are used to seeing the tough guy who commands all the spaces that he's in and isn't afraid to dole out pain when necessary. I definitely didn't really get that vibe from Nico. I think Nico wanted to stay within the lines of being a mafia man but also be a good guy. He was the cleaner but kept everything above board. He was willing to throw a punch when needed but preferred the peaceful route. He had his rough edges but we see him mostly mellow out more with the addition of Sondra. Sondra on the other hand wanted to walk on the wild side even though she was the kind straight forward type. Working for and meeting mafia guys was a dream of hers and with Nico, she got her wish.     My main gripe with this story lies with Sondra. She just had weird reactions to things. Like the way she reacted when meeting Nico in the beginning of the book kinda threw me off. The reaction with the ex

What's In A Rating??

Image
It's time for my mid month update!! I have been on a reading spree!! It has been so fun! I have been finding so many fun and amazing books and authors!! I'm on track to read more books than I did last month and that's crazy because I think last month was a record! I read 12 books last month which most of them were ARC's. The shortest month but had the most books read. So, along with updating everyone on my progress with my goodreads challenge, I also want to update everyone with where I am in regards to my ratings. So I have a pretty solid chart with how things fall with my spice but I don't think I've really ironed out my actual rating scale for everyone. I'll be making this a separate post as well but I want to also add it here while it's heavily on my mind.      When it comes to the rating of books, this is pretty much how I rate them: Would not recommend. Probably DNF'd. I usually try not to post these on my other socials because it can be hurtf

Fire In His Blood - Review

Image
I read this book awhile ago and yet it still managed to make an impression on me. Enough that I started to eat up Ruby Dixon's backlog. Though I never reviewed it or anything. Here I am now going back and listening to it in the audiobook form. Shout out to the male voice actor because the amount of times that he had to repeat that same stretch of words when Kyle was in the madness was intense!  So yes, this book features a dystopian theme that I didn't know I loved so much until I jumped into this series. The whole idea of the world being forced to reset and people going back to the things that really mattered, hit home for me. Kyle and Claudia were some very interesting characters. Claudia was someone who did what she had to do to provide for those that she cares for. She definitely had the oldest child syndrome. I applaud her for her strength and for not taking anything from those in power. Even though she was powerless to stop them. When she meets Kyle, the stumble th

Down For the Count - Review

This book had me on edge. I was hoping that things would work out for Sawyer and Kingston. This is definitely a specialty of Stacey's. You feel the sadness and get emotional with the characters and then the light at the end of the tunnel is revealed. I enjoyed this book,  it had so many different levels of gratification. By the end I was relieved but also sad because I didn't want it to end.     The spice in this book was HOT. Another thing you can count on from this author. I mean it was hot off the presses good. Like a reread for piano playing type good. 5 out of 5 good. Overall I gave this book a 4 out of 5. Mainly because the ending was super traumatic for poor Hadley and it went by too fast. I wanted some drawn out satisfaction by the time we got to the end. I wanted more for our mains by the end as well. Like I know they were happy with how things ended but I wanted it to rain on them like a Fat Joe song. I'd recommend this book if you like being knock

Spark of Obsession - Review

Image
This book was definitely not for me. I struggled to get through it before I reached 50%. So I'm going to list some things (spoiler free) I didn't like then give the things I did like. I did not like that there was so much happening. The FMC had a little cut off everything going on. She had trauma, school, a stalker and a creep all at the same time. Now all of that would be fine if they weren't all made to seem important. Like the trauma kept popping up at random times,  which is normal.  There is no time-line for when those emotions go away but it was how it was used in this story that was just a lot. Not like triggering to me or overwhelming but it just seemed like if this was there alone without the 15 other things happening,  it would be a good plot to see how she deals with this and how she got better from it. Instead it's mixed in with everything else in a very overwhelming way. I really wanted her to seek help because it wasn't healthy. Then let

Breeders - Review

This book was everything! I love my omegaverse reads and this one is another one that's going to be up there on the list of the best ones. This was a new take on how the issue of the heats are handled. While it was different and there was more than one man, it was still kinda cool to see how this was handled. This was direct response to the things that happened in the past of this world. I would have been perfectly fine if the author spent more time on teaching us about what is going on in the world. It all seemed so interesting! I hope that there is more in this series, whether it is more from the things that happened at the end of this book or something new in this world. The story of Dame and Cassie was such a nice story! They made such a cute couple once they decided to make a go of things. Not to mention they touched my gamer heart since that was the thing that they bonded over the most was such a nice thing. I would definitely recommend this book to people who are look

King - Review

Image
This book was ok. I do think that this book had the misfortune of me reading it after I read God of Malice which was a fantastic read for me. This book was slower than I would like. There wasn't many things that were kind of like a lull in the reading but at the same time it still was not very exciting. Seeing Savannah adjust to the major changes that started happening in her life was interesting. King jumping straight to marriage was a bit of a surprise. Since we did get a chance to meet him in the previous book, he just didn't seem like the type to jump to marriage. So it was very interesting that given the circumstances this was the option that he chose. Everything with them progressed in a natural way under the circumstances. I wish we had a chance to see more of how King and Nero worked. Then we can also see how things work with the women added in. Savannah seems like someone who would take to the work the King does more so than Payton.     The spice in this book was ok.

God of Malice- Review

Image
This book is for all the dark romance girlies. To all the girls who love the villain. To all the people who are different and feel like they can never be loved for their differences. This is for you. Add in all the spice that you can handle and you get God of Malice. Killain doesn't hold back on who he is and I love that for him. Even though he truly is someone who barely feels any real emotions, at least he knows himself. He meets Glyndon and everything changes. He goes from the being constantly bored with the world to hyper focused on her. Meanwhile she goes from being a person who lived in their shell and took everything that was given without a fight, to realizing that she deserves to have a say in her life. I really enjoyed their dynamic and how Glyndon comes into her own. With so many men with strong personalities in her life, she has to learn to be strong and to let them know that they can't control everything in her life. Not only that, she has to learn how to believe

Love Eternal- Review

Image
I wanted to like this book but unfortunately, I did not. For me there was a lot of things going on and there wasn't enough information given to make what was happening understandable. This review will be a little spoilery I guess because there is no other way to explain some of the aspects of this book I didn't like. So beware!!!!     So, first, I'll start off with the things that I did like. I really enjoyed that the FMC was different from what we are used to getting from authors. While she was still a big girl who felt a little down on herself in terms of her looks she was still VERY unique. I really liked that she leaned into her darker side enough that she essentially ran a business that was about it. She owned an oddities store that leaned towards the macabre. Then there was the fact that she didn't have a traditional name and also was out here dressing like how she felt no matter what others thought of her. Even the cat was interesting. I wouldn't be sur

Darker- ARC Review

Image
This book was interesting! There is a lot happening with the characters and it seems to be a pretty serious situation going down for the MC. There is a lot of laughs that go on though even though the situation is grave. It took me awhile to get the dynamics of all the characters and I'm still learning everyone a little since there were some more characters introduced by the end of the book. I am interested in reading the book before this and more than likely the one after it too! I feel like I will appreciate the events and the characters in this book more. Overall this was an entertaining read and I think it will make for a great palate cleansing read while still making you want more!     As for the spice in this one...whew it was pretty hot! The characters are already together when we meet them in this book and as such they definitely do not hold back. There is exhibitionism and some fun biting action. It was was a nice and hot!! Spice was definitely a 4 out of 5. Overall

Shattered Obsession- ARC Review

Yall, this is going to be mostly a gush review. Tina has done it again! I stayed up all night reading this book. I got absolutely no sleep last night. I couldn't leave the world that was created with Dominik and Zoe. I feel for Zoe so much. She's had to go through so much in her life from the people who should have loved her the most. I felt all the things when you learn more and more about her. I was rooting for her and Dominik to get together throughout this whole book!! So this cliffhanger had me screaming!! I am waiting for more of this Tina!! Please say it's soon!! I need more!! This is high on my recommendation list. You really get invested in these characters and this story.    There wasn't much spice in this story but the scene that was there was H O T. I can't reiterate enough how H O T this scene was. I'd give this book a 5 just for this scene alone. But alas I'll give it a 4 for now. I'd recommend this book to everyone. It's ve

Love, Under Contract

This is almost your typical billionaire romance. We have the workaholic billionaire Dru and the down to earth teacher Charisse. I loved how it felt like they could be my next door neighbor and if never know. It felt very down to earth despite things being anything but.  Dru was interesting and had layers while Charisse was bubbly and the friend we all want. I would recommend this as a nice cozy read. I only had 2 complaints which are kinda minor. They kept mentioning how much things were. Like when he's like,  "I'll send you 5k, that should be enough right?". I feel like a billionaire would usually be so out of touch with things that he'd be like just get whatever or I'll give ya 50k to go do xyz thing. He felt too connected to it while seeming disconnected with other aspects of being a billionaire. My other gripe was that the issue they grappled with seemed very miniscule and not enough to really derail things. Like the whole "crap we'

End of the Month Wrap Up - February '24 Edition

Image
This month has been filled with a bunch of ARCs for me!! I can't believe that I was able to read so many books this month! Everyone of them has been worth it! Even the ones that I didn't like as much. Salute to all of these authors for getting the thoughts out of their minds and onto the pages and letting us be able to read it. Hopefully I can keep this up for next month and then I'll blow through the rest of these books and the challenge as well. It's that time again though, the end of the month wrap up! This month there are some books that are going to dominate the categories. These books have stuck with me since I read them and I can't wait to read more! Have you read any of these books? Let me know what you think of where I put them? Prettiest Cover:   Scorch - Look at this cover. I mean, do I even really have to say anything else? Look at Ansel? This man is beautiful and I just can't stop looking at this cover! Even the color palate that was chosen for th
