Heart Attack Avoided!

This was just the book I needed to get me out of my slump!! This amazing and fantastical book was nearly perfect from start to finish. Though I had a mini heart attack at around the 80-85% mark. This is a spoiler free review so I'll let you go through that portion on your own.  Just be prepared, because I wasn't!! At first I thought this was going to be a slow burn,  which it kinda was but the characters waited until the perfect moment to cross that bridge. The beginning and I'll say middle of this book was pretty much perfect.  Great pacing, interesting characters,  great world building.  But then,  right around the middle things felt like they started to get a little bogged down. Like events were happening just to happen. Nothing was Potosi the story and i was starting to slow down on my enjoyment since it was starting to get not as interesting. Things pick up a little by the end portion but got a little.... crazy. Like idk if it was good or bad kinda crazy. If the end of this book was condensed and cleaned up a little bit this easily could have been a 5 star read.  Finnie and Frey are a great couple and I loved their story.
The spice was good. So here's the thing. The anticipation and intensity was built perfectly and the moment it finally caught fire was epic but every moment after was kinda glazed over. Considering Frey and Finnie were going at it like rabbits, you'd think we'd have had more times where the author got a little more graphic but alas she didn't. I wanted that so bad because the emotion between the two of them and the connection that she builds with the reader is great and every moment should have been enjoyable. Don't get me wrong she goes describe some of their interactions just not as indepth as some other scenes I've read. I give the spice in this book a 4 out of 5. Overall story was a 4 it of 5. Lose the fluff and this was easily a 5 star read. I'm definitely going to read more in this series because this world is so interesting that I'm hooked!! I'd definitely recommend this book to others!!
