End of the Month Wrap Up - October 2024
It's time for me to Wrap Up October! It has been a crazy month and one that, while I'm glad that it's over, it will be one that I will never forget. I found a lot of new authors and I read some great stories that I didn't think I'd like! I was only able to read 6 books this month. I did have 2 that I ended up DNFing but I won't count them since I never finished them. So with that being said, let's see the books that survived my crazy October!
Top Baddie - Reshe (Daughter of No World's) : Reshe was the type of baddie that is hard to fight because she is in you. She was not a physical entity that could be fought. On top of that there was the fact that she carried so many memories in her. Anything that you have thought to do to her has been done before. Anything that is that old would have resentment and she was full of it. Even though, the person who she had previously, she apparently developed "feelings" for (Max). It made things that much more interesting when she was given to Tisannah. I defintiely don't think that we are anywhere near done with her. I look forward to seeing what happens with her in book 2 of the War of Lost Hearts series.
Best Cover - Broken Whispers: Have I mentioned that I love covers with nice man hands on them? Well I do! Once again we have another book in this series that features exactly that and I love it! I'm not sure if these are the same hands as in the first book but man are they nice. So for me, this cover took the cake. Though the rest of them were very nice this month as well.
Favorite Character - Cat (One Foot in the Grave): Cat, once again, proves that she is the baddiest bih in this world. She manages to keep the men in check while also kicking butt and looking amazing while doing it. We get her back with Bones in this book and we definitely are looking at a power couple in the making! I can't wait to dive deeper into my re-read of this series. I am getting all the excited feels that I had when I first read this book!
Best Voice Actor(s) - One Foot in the Grave: I absolutely love the full cast graphic audio that I am listening to with this re-read. It has been hands down amazing! I love that everyone has their unique voice. This way it makes them feel more real! I think that this one has definitely spoiled me because if I didn't listen to this book, this month then there wouldn't have been a best voice actor for this month. Even though I listened to 2 other audio books this month. The things that I didn't like about them was that one of them only had one voice actor. It seems to be a common theme with this author. Even though I loved the book overall. I think that I am going to read it from here on out because I really dislike only having one narrator. The other one, must have been recorded during COVID because there was a lot of background noise and random things that was very distracting when I was listening to it.
Spiciest Book - God of Wrath: Whew, the primal play kink in this book was hot hot hot! I really liked the relationship between Jeremy and Cecily in this book. We get the "prude" and the guy that everyone stays away from. They definitely had great chemistry with each other that made everything really enjoyable. I don't think there was too much and it hit with feeling each time.
Best Storyline - Bewitched: I really enjoyed this book! Like way more than I thought that I would! It was another hit out of the park for me. Everything just kind of flowed together really well. I didn't get the feeling that things didn't make sense and the characters reacted in ways that made sense for them. Then when the reveals started happening. It just...was perfect. I have no complaints about the storyline here. In fact, I can't wait to start the next book in this series. I am trying to wait for either the prequel to come out or the 3rd book to come out. I am so excited for this series!
Book of the Month - God of Wrath: This book was just so good. I think another thing that I really liked, is how the author was able to tie in events that we saw happening from book 1 -2 in this series and then recontextualize them from the POV of the characters that we are dealing with now. I just makes for an overall amazing interconnected experience. I can't wait to see more in the next books! I then kinda, want a timeline of how all of this happened. Was it in the four years that they were in college or is some of this happening after. I know with God of Malice, it started kinda before they all got into school and continued on. So we'll see how the next books add on to the timeline.
Author of the Month - Laura Thalassa: I have to give this to Laura because, I mean this is what, series 4 for me that I just loved from her? I can't believe that she has managed to take all these different MMCs and make me love them! Though I will say, making me cry at the end of the Four Horseman series was truly evil. Each one of the series that I've read from her have had amazing world's, characters and made me feel different things at different times while reading them. That, I think is something that all readers crave. I can't wait to continue this journey with the characters in this current series and I also can't wait to jump back into the Bargainer series! It's next up in my re-read sessions!
