Corrupted Angel - Review
This book was not that great. I was very surprised that I even managed to finish it. The amount of eye rolling that I did should cause a condition. This story follows Alexis as she makes bad choice after bad choice after even worse choice. She doesn't seem to grow from any of these bad choices and to top it off she can't seem to really do much of anything. Gabe, is probably the WORST mafia leader there ever was. He just seems like a guy who is playing at being a mafia boss. The poor guys that follow him might as well expect to die because he also doesn't make the best choices. Every chance he had in this book to try to do something that seemed even remotely boss-like...was a failure. He didn't do anything right except not be a jerk when he found out that he could possibly be a father. He lost every battle against the opponents that are mentioned, he wasn't able to spot a spy when they were right in his face and then he was just determined to not make the right relationship choices with Alexis. I just don't even understand why they are together. Neither one of them seemed like they really cared for the other, other than for sex. Which like...ok, but the whole idea of the story was just not believable to me. I would not recommend this book.
The spice was ok. It was really the only thing that these two had going for each other. Even at that it still is only a 3 out of 5 for me. Overall, I'd rate this a 2 out of 5. I didn't really enjoy it and I barely even know how I finished it. At one point I was determined to DNF the story once the FMC just...continued to make bad choices. This book was kind of frustrating. The audible didn't make it any easier to like. I did not like the MMC vc and the weird sometimes accent was throwing me off entirely. This was not a good reading experience for me at all. The MMC was just an unbelievable leader and I do not feel the need to continue this series at all. It does end on a cliffhanger but...meh. I'd rather be listening to something else.
