The Moment - ARC Review
If you are looking for your next rocker read then this one might just be right up your alley! I try to stay away from them myself but I have started to enjoy them a little bit more so I jumped at the chance to read this one! This is the story of Rex and Aria! Rex is a rock star from a famous band that has almost had his fill of being a rocker. The lack of privacy and constantly having to duck and dodge fans has started to lose it's luster. Aria is a woman who has just been coasting through life and never pursuing her dreams. Until Aria is forced by her best friend and sister to live it up a little. When these two meet, it's almost love at first sight for them both. I really enjoyed the way these two met. I have seen this phenomena online but I have never seen someone write about it in a book! I'll let ya'll stay in suspense about that. You'll have to pick this book up to see how the met BUT just know it's unique and very cool. I also enjoyed how they just went with the flow with things and ended up being each others person. Of course they end up taking a round about way to get there. Some things that I didn't enjoy was how childish Rex could be at times. I don't mean the funny names him and his twin would use for each other either. Just the way that he spoke sometimes gave off teenager vibes as opposed to adult. Also the random POV of the friends. I know this might not be a problem for others but it was a little jarring. It wasn't extremely bad but I was like....ok. We understood enough of their feelings towards Rex in the moment without getting a random chapter of their POV. The other random chapters with the news articles though was interesting and I did like those being added. If some of the fat was trimmed from the book, I think this would be even higher on the list for me. There were times when things dragged and I was tempted to just skip paragraphs because what was happening didn't feel important. After finishing the book, I can say...those moments were indeed not important. Other than that I enjoyed this book. We get a lot of development for the main characters but the side characters are just that...side characters. Though Ian was very interesting and I'd read a book about him!
The spice in this book is almost immediate. There is definitely not a lack of spicy scenes in this book. Not all of them are OMG worthy but they are nice. I'd give the spice in this book a 3 out of 5. Overall I also gave this book a 3 out of 5. This was a nice opener to a series and my main thing was that we didn't really get enough interaction with most of the side characters for them to really matter to us if this series continues on with them. Though oddly enough, I'd read a MM about Mac. I don't often read purely MM books but he was pretty interesting. So was Ian. I didn't really care for Aria's friends in this book. I understand being upset for your friend but they were also upset with her when it felt unnecessary. I would recommend this book to someone who is looking for a less serious book about rock stars and falling in love with them. As always pick a book up and try it out for yourself to see if you like it!
