Finding Love

I am a stop of Stevie Sparks, Romance Me With Books tour!! This book was kinda your typical historical romance while also not being typical. When most people think of historical romance, we're thinking like 1700-1800s or even earlier. This book takes place during the early 1900s. Which was interesting because they had some modern things while still being old. Hearing about the maid using a vacuum cleaner definitely had me smirking! I guess you'd also title this book a forbidden romance in modern times but I believe that this situation was actually quite common during this time. Brother in laws and sister in laws marrying to keep someone or something safe that is.
The interesting part of this book was the it was the MMC who was in love with the FMC who had no idea about the love. Watching the feelings blossom between Emmeline and Michael was definitely beautiful. There are tons of triggers in this book that you should check before reading. Emmeline experiences a lot of trauma as well as Michael. The fact that they were able to find love and acceptance despite those traumas was what made this book a good read!
As for the spice....it was definitely there and I enjoyed it once things finally got going but reading historical romance is always interesting when you get to the spicy scenes. The ignorance of the women during this time is a definite change but was refreshing. I'd give the spice a 3.5 out of 5. Overall I'd give this book a 3.5 out of 5 as well. I'd love to have seen one particular character get their just deserts before the end of the book. And you get not only 1 love story but almost 2 in this book was a double whammy especially since one ended so terribly. I'd recommend this book to other lovers of historical romance!!
