Sick Boys - Review
Well, this book took me all over the place and sometimes, I didn't know if I liked it or not. The story itself was ok. We meet Penelope who is on the hunt to discover who killed her sister. In doing so she ends up running into the Sick Boys. So, ill start with the things I didn't like and we'll finish up with what I did like. Firstly, the spitting. Omg, its my one thing that I hate. I cant stand spit and there is a ton of spitting in this book. In mouths, on body parts, in faces. It was a lot. The next thing was how they immediately went to the name calling and our FMC was immediately hot for it. Like....we aren't even going to warm up to it or nothing huh. Just raw dogging the word slut, and whore was wild. Definitely took some getting used to. I guess I prefer for there to be some kind of relationship first before they immediately go to the derogatory words but home girl said she liked it so I just rolled with it. The characters themselves felt pretty childish at times. Though I guess this was slightly more realistic then some of the other books. The college aged students weren't out here wilding with cold blooded parents who let them do whatever. Although it lent a very strange vibe to what was going on. Then there comes the whole reason everyone is up in arms. Part of me understands why Penelopes sister felt the way she did but another is like...come on now. That was a bit of an overreaction. It just made it seem like she had no faith in her family whatsoever. Like she just put everything on the guys and when things didn't go her way she jumped. Very strange reaction. The fact that the guys were also with Eve was kinda...weird too. Like, that thought would always be in the back of my mind if I was Penelope. Now for the things I liked. Even though it took some time we finally got to see Penelope give as good as she got! She finally seemed like an equal yo the guys who could back up what she was preaching....by the end. The story was engaging. Even though it had its moments, I still enjoyed the characters and the story telling. It kept me wanting to read even through all the spit.
The spice was there honey. That's one thing you definitely did not have to worry about. I give the spice a 4 out of 5. Overall, I enjoyed the story and the way that it was told. I would probably recommend this book to anyone who enjoys spicy poly romance. I'd give this a 3.5 out of 5.
