Saving Verakko - Review

Image
Driving back into this series and I liked Lily and Verakko!! It almost felt like a mini dynamic switch with Lily being the one who knew how to survive and Verakko being the muscle! I liked that we got to see a new city and a different type of Clecanians. Of course I'm still living this matriarchal society as well. Lily had me living her until close to the end of the book. I kinda got frustrated with her and felt like there was no way for poor Verakko to win. Though, I'm glad everything did end up working out.  The spice in this book was good. I liked their chemistry so the spice worked. I'd give it a 3 out of 5. Overall, I enjoyed this book more than the second one and I can't wait to continue this series! I was also happy to see that one of the characters we met back in book 1 made an appearance and will later have his own book!! I felt a little sad for him for a second there until I confirmed. Can't wait for more in this series!!

Cheeky King - Review

Image
I finally decided to finish Penny and Sebastians story. It was a good story and getting to see Sebastian be vunerable while dealing with the death of his father was good. It's not usual that you see a MMC be vulnerable. However, that's the only praise I have for him. He was childish for most of the other things dealing with Penny. He definitely did not grovel enough for me after the stuff that he put her through. I would have been perfectly fine if this book was a little longer just to see him earn Penny back. She gave in a little too quickly for me. Though I was glad to see that they got married and he made a way for them to be together. The whole controversy behind what happened with the former King, the cousin and everything was very interesting. I am looking forward to the next book in this series! I was able to get the deluxe edition that has both book 1 and book 2 along with the art work. And man is that thing spicy! The art is hot!  The spice was there in this book. Ev...

End of the Month Wrap Up - May 26

Image
Another month down, another set of books read. I have been hitting the book jackpot lately and have been really enjoying the books that I have picked up! Of course last month you guys didn't get a wrap up but I will be doing it for you and posting it before I post this one. I already have just about everything made so I just have to post it. On top of that, I also have an update on where I am with my Goodreads challenge! So far we are at 70 books read for this year! Which means we only have 30 more to go before I'm done with the challenge! So if I continue at my current pace, that would mean that by August, I should have this completed! Fingers crossed that I can keep up with at least 10 books a month. Well with that being said, let's get a recap of the books that I have read this month and then I will move on to the superlatives! Happy reading!! Favorite Character:   Shiloh (WITSEC)-   I love when the FMC can hold her own! Shiloh is definitely one of those characters wh...

Mafia Mistress - Review

Image
So I have some thoughts. Before I started this book I read some of the reviews and comments on it and there were two things that were prevalent when I went through the bad ones. Mainly that the FMC was a push over and the other being that they felt like she was groomed by the older MMC. So here are my takes on that. I do think that she was a push over. Frankie never really had the nerve to stand up to Fausto and stick to her guns. When people talk about being dickmatized, this is what they mean. I mean this man literally did her wrong more than once, he admits it but she doesn't make him earn her. She is constantly trying to escape even though it seems like not only a hopeless endeavor but also one that doesn't seem smart. So I will say for that part she was annoying. Then we get to the part where she is groomed. Now I don't believe that she is. She's already sexually active and is out here living her best life prior to meeting Fausto. Now if she was a virgin and he t...

The Ever King - Review

Image
Well this was better than I thought it was going to be! Livia did get on my nerves a little in the beginning. She admits to convincing herself that what she knew to be true wasn't and went along with the group instead of believing in herself. Although I will say that she was young when things initially happened so I did give her a pass. I liked getting to met the crew and the amazing world that is the Ever. The vibes in this book was definitely heavy on the pirates and I really loved that. It felt refreshing from what I have been reading. The way I want to get more into this world should be studied. The many different characters, their relationships and everything is very well set up in this book. The power system and everything else is pretty dang interesting as well. I am looking forward to what is about to happen in book two. I'm hoping that we get Livia embracing more of her dark side and empowering herself more since she is in a tricky situation. It's going to be int...

Desire in His Blood - Review

Image
Back at it again with this author and another alien series. I really liked this one too! The complex nature of how the relationship between Azur and Gemma started really let us have room for them to grown. It was very fortunate that they didn't have it in them to continue on the hatred that they felt and allowed themselves to see Gemma as she actually was and not how she was portrayed. I think that's a big theme in this book. Both Azur and Gemma had to overcome prejudice against the other for their relationship to work. Of course being blood mates definitely helped in that aspect.  The spice in this book was really good. It was built up very nicely and once they started it was on and popping. 4 out of 5 on the spice scale. Overall I enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading more in this series!! I would recommend this series for my alien/monster loving ladies!

His to Ruin - Review

Image
I love a good mafia romance. I don't like them when the woman tries to change the man or when the woman is detrimentally stupid. This one was the latter. This is one of those times where I believe she should take responsibility for her actions and know that things will change. She might not have known who the man she slept with was but once she did, everything should have changed. You can't live the life you lived prior once you get involved with a mafia guy. Instead of embracing that, this chick who was already attacked just off the strength of what her brother has going on decides to be the dumbest person in the room. Everytime she forced the issue about this book restoration. I rolled my eyes. She didnt have the ability to see the bigger picture and that was making me mad. If not for herself then for her child. Then add to that Adrian felt like an incompetent man or was made to seem that way in almost every situation. This book was a definite dud for me. The spic...

Save Me - Review

Image
This book felt much shorter than the first one yet so much happened. I mean bad thing after bad thing keeps happening to Shiloh. Like it's to the point that it's almost unbelievable that so much bad things keep happening to her. It's mainly through the people she's met. I just can't believe how much things have changed by the end of this book. From book 1 to the end of this one everything has flipped. How are we going to handle things now is my question.  There is finally some actual spice in this one!! I'd give the spice a 4 out of 5. She really breaks out in this one and I love that for her. Overall, I liked this book and I look forward to the next but like...there is also no way you run into this many trash individuals. They all want to go after this one girl...without fail. Kinda crazy imo but we'll see how the rest of this series goes.

God of War - Review

Image
The conclusion to the Legacy of Gods series was not what I was expecting it to be. I definitely felt like this one was a little all over the place. I didn't know how to feel about either one of the MCs in this one. I will say that I did listen to the audible version of this and I definitely did not vibe with the female narrators voice. I let it go though and continued to listen. So far in this series, I have loved the mental health representation and maybe there is someone out there who can relate to what was going on with Ava but I felt like her reactions were a little all over sometimes. Like I don't even think it has anything to do with her illness and everything to do with how she was written. The back and forth with her feelings just felt tiring. You know that they care for each other but their actions at times definitely did not reflect that. At times it was illogical. I didn't feel them falling for each other the way that you feel it with the other characters. Even ...

Find Me - Review

Image
Wow, this book was actually better than I thought. It is heavily plot driven. Even though there is some hot scenes between the characters, nothing actually happens. I'm talking about hitting second base type stuff. However, I really enjoyed this read. It really deeply involves you in the world of the characters. You spend a lot of time getting to know them. Each as individuals as they interact with our FMC. We are also unveiling more about her past as well as theirs. I did find it interesting that we find out that the guys are actually all blood siblings. I was thinking it was going to be something like they were really close and one of them was like an adopted brother type deal. So it really makes the dynamics between the characters very interesting. I would love to see how that develops in the next book. As for our FMC, she is definitely still going through it and you can tell by how she handles herself with the guys and just in general. Also can I just say that throughout this...

Obsession (The Mate Games War) - Review

Image
This book came out swinging. I mean I felt like a hot wheels car that touched the track and immediately took off. The characters in this book are interesting and I definitely like some of them. I really am trying to understand the dynamics with Sunday and the other men. I understand Kingston, even though I don't really like him at the moment. I understand Noah, it was an instant attraction type deal and she felt it too. He is the uncomplicated type of love. Alec, is interesting since he's one that I don't quite see how he fits, other than the calming situation. Caleb, is another that is interesting. The whole priest thing and the scene we got at the end of the book....I don't know how to interpret that. I know what it looks like but what is really going on there. The fact that this is another situation of parents behaving badly, I am just rolling my eyes. Because why the heck are so many of these parents trash? Get it together! Right now, I don't even know which on...

Freeing Luka - Review

Image
This book wasn't as good as the first one in my opinion. I definitely almost forgot the FMCs name. I did like the relationship that she had with the other women that she was able to free. They are all definitely going to be interesting if some of them are going to be in the rest of this series. I can't wait to explore more of this world. I loved the nerdy relationship these two had with each other. We didn't get to see much more of the planet like I was hoping we would. The threat of allowing the people of the planet find out about humans being as compatible with the men here is amazing. I will say that I didn't even think about how this would affect the women of the planet in such a positive way. Even though this one wasn't better than the first one to me, I still managed to enjoy this one. I can't wait to read the rest of this series! The spice in this book was good. I would give it a 3 out of 5 for the spice. The connection between these two was definitely ...

Nightshade - Review

Image
This book was so different. Like, I loved the subject matter and the way it was handled. The past back and forth of the chapters and the reveals were perfectly placed. I felt bad for characters that didn't even deserve sympathy. Then I also felt anger, curious and happy at certain parts. The lore was thick and definitely made sure you paid attention.  The spice was great in this one. I really enjoyed the scenes with the characters. I almost washed more. It's not super descriptive but it is still well done. I'd give it a 3 out of 5 for spice. Overall, I liked this book. I do plan on continuing the series and I can't wait to see what comes next. I'd recommend this to anyone who don't mind the religious context with dark overtones.

Sorrow and Strangers - ARC Review

Image
Whew, this was a lot. Everything started out how you would imagine after losing a character near and dear to not only the FMCs heart but your own. We mourn. Reading through Summer's grief was so emotional. I felt for her. Everyone who we've met up til this point who had any type of feeling for Connor was heavily in mourning. You see the different ways that each of them deal with it. Some of it is heartbreaking while others feel cathartic. A lot of our characters are going through changes in this book. Whether it's physical or emotional. Heck I went through almost every emotion in this book with them. The way things are progressing with the over all plot of finding out what Summer is progresses a little bit the focus is heavily on the emotional connections she has to everyone. We get some reveals but even more questions. While the ending for this one isn't as traumatic, it is still a cliffy and we're ask just hanging on waiting for the next round of pain ...

Taken by the Horde King - Review

Image
This one was a little meh for me. Mina was making me upset with her. Maybe I'm not as nice as she is. When my friend started moving funny then I was gonna have to leave her alone to sit in her mess. The fact that Mina was determined to see her friend as she was before they ended up with the folks they were with under the mountain was a little upsetting considering that her friend was out here with the enemy. I definitely could understand where Rune was coming from in this one. He was tricked into kinda abandoning his people and then chained and semi tortured for awhile. Then it took him some time to actually warm up to each other. Despite the fact that he made her his queen. I was a little surprised by that. All of the relationship issues that these two had was definitely something that made sense. I liked reading them getting around that and getting together truly by the end. Of course there was some fantastical things in between that. Out of all the couples so far that have mani...

Bad Bishop - Review

Image
I didn't expect this book to be as good as it was. I really enjoyed reading this one! The characters and the banter really made this book! I mean there isn't one character who isn't memorable in this book. Everyone had a personality that managed to shine brightly in this book. It was the perfect balance between too much and just enough. Tiernan is such a great character. The darkness that he holds and the life that he's led, made him a great MMC. Lila is also an amazing character. She had so much to come back from and she did it beautifully! I loved her story and how she was able to find her spine as well as her truth. Their story was so beautiful! Even though the story was dark and Tiernan is definitely a morally gray/black character, he was amazing to watch as he slowly unraveled. The spice in this book was amazing! I mean it took on a whole different meaning with these two. The way that they were able to come together was able to supersede a lot of the usual things...

Blood of Dragons - Review

Image
This book was heavy. Just as heavy as the first one was in terms of darkness and trauma. We are reunited with Calista as she tries to find somewhere to essentially hide from Talon. But it's finally learning more about Talons backstory that is truly the kick in the gut here. What he went threw was truly terrible and no one should have to endure that. I can understand why he has gone on a rampage but again when you allow such darkness to be your fuel you end up being as dark as the people who made you. He comes face to face with that in this book. Calista still has some demons that she too needs to reconcile with. She does get to finally grieve all of the terrible things that have been done to her. The one thing that I really dislike though, is how weak she is. She definitely has the strong will but not the power to make the ones that wrong her pay. For that I am sorry because it makes me want to shake her. Other than that, I enjoyed this book and the story that is slowly being reve...

Immortal Prince - Review

Image
This was a good read. It was definitely better than the first one. The pacing felt better and the characters made me want to beat them up less. I enjoyed the flashbacks for Eric and Magnar. It is definitely throwing a lot into perspective. Though it's going to be interesting to see how these two couples are going to reconcile with each other. The men have so much history together and all of it is bad. This world is interesting and everything that happens in this book just adds to everything.  The spice was better in this book because there was some. Though still not the actual thing. I'm waiting with baited breath for both couples to actually get together. Though things are looking very rough for both of them right now. I'd give the spice a 2 out of 5. While things were open door there still wasn't any actual action. Overall, I enjoyed this one a heck of a lot more than the first, which makes me excited for the next one. There is still a lot of development f...

Devious Touch - ARC Review

Image
This book was good. It started out kinda slow but by the end it picked up and it was a good read. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and seeing how things progressed. I did wish that things didn't feel so heavy. Not like it was dark kinda heavy but heavy like there was a lot of words and situations that felt unnecessary. The characters had great stories on their own. Mikhail and the story between him and his brother and how they grew up, Cecilia with her secret and strained relationship with her father. They were both interesting. Then when they got together they were interesting together. It takes awhile to get there but we do. I guess what made it feel heavy is that there really wasn't a big problem for the couple to solve really until the end and then things were interesting. Then of course the story ended. I wish the mystery of what happened with Cecilia when she was little was more of the plot than what I guess was there.  The spice was ok. I enjoyed these two tog...

Fated to the Wolf Prince - Review

Image
This book is probably not going to be one that will hook you into this series. I'm not too excited to continue. The story wasn't bad it's just not memorable. I also felt like the problem wasn't resolved. The things that ended up getting resolved weren't really... problems. Maybe it's something that is an over arching problem but introducing it as a main thing for this couple and it not being solved within their story really left me feeling kinda empty. There were also some plot holes that had me looking at things funny. I usually am not one to see plot holes immediately but even i was like ....uhhh what. Like how Brielle brought up poison being how an alpha was killed to Kane and then later bringing it up like it was a question.  You just told Kane that's what happened! Idk this book just wasn't for me. I wanted to like it more because I love shifter books but...it just didn't hold my interest.  The spice was kinda lackluster. Like it was...

Ruthless Creatures - Review

Image
This book was H O T. Holy crap!! Listening to the audiobook of this was freaking amazing!! The narrators for this are amazing and I really loved the life that they brought to the characters. Not only that but the characters themselves were pretty freaking amazing. I love the way they bantered with each other and they just had so much life! Individually and especially together! These are the type of friends that are real and you just want to be a part of their friend group! I read this awhile ago so I actually didn't really remember that I did but I definitely want to continue this series. The spice in this book was really good! We love a man who isn't intimidated by toys! The fact that they both were willing to try things for each other was good. 4 out of 5 for the spice. Overall, I absolutely loved this book. From start to finish! I would recommend this to anyone who loves Bratva/crime boss romances! This was apparently a reread that I somehow forgot. The first time I read t...

Whispers of the Deep - Review

Image
Not gonna lie to ya...I went into this thinking that this was gonna be a weird read. In a way I guess it was but it also wasn't a bad read. I was invested in seeing where the story went and how the MCs were able to fix all the issues that were ahead of them. They still haven't managed to fix them all but some of the more pressing issues have definitely been resolved. It made for a spicy monster read. Not super spicy but it was nice. Everything was built upon as the characters slowly but surely got to know each other. It was also really cool to learn about the different things that they were going through during the time that this book was made. Like why are the humans under the water, how did this technology come into being and how long they have been enemies with the undine. I really enjoyed this more than I thought I would. The characters were compelling, the world immense and has room to grow.  The spice in this book was good. There wasn't a high amount of it but it wa...

The Wraith King - Review

Image
Oh this was good. I enjoyed this book a lot. It flowed very nicely and we get a good amount of time with both characters. The world is built beautifully with a chance for expansion to the many different fae courts. The dragons, the wolves and the many magical creatures just made everything so much better!! The betrayal hurt and I definitely thought it was someone else for awhile until the reveal. Then once everythinf came to light, I was speechless for a sec. Very interesting how it all played out. I hope to see more of these characters in this series! They are compelling, loving and bad ass!!  The spice in this book was nice! I definitely enjoyed the scenes as it helped to enhance the relationship between the characters and to show their growth in their relationship. 3 out of 5 for spice. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it for the fantasy loving girlies! This was giving all that and more! Another author to add to my list. Backlog dive...

Mine to Hunt - ARC Review

Image
The ending of this series almost makes me sad. I have really loved these characters and this world but like all good things it has come to an end. Tristan and Kiera were some of the characters we knew the least about. They felt like the mysterious ones in the "friend" group who we knew had something but weren't 100% on what. Now we know. Now we get to see the darkness that they both inhabited and got to choose to love them or hate them. Kiera is really going through it in this book. In a way that you wouldn't believe after getting to meet her character in the previous book. Tristan, who was almost a shadow in the previous books really shows us what he is made of in this one. Not to mention we were able to see some of our faves from the previous books in this series. Anytime the other characters we've met get to pop in and remind of how awesome they were I love it! We definitely get that here. The ending of this book felt so nostalgic, the gang was all together a...

Court of Nightmares - Review

Image
This was a smut heavy book. Usually, I have no problem with that but....I also happen to not like Fem Dom situations. I feel like she was dominating the men all the time and there was never a time where it was the opposite really. At first, I didn't even think that she was going to get to know them for real. I mean I don't really know them for real. I feel like I really liked 2 maybe 3 of them and the rest were kinda just there. I think the way, I like situations like this is when the FMC actually gets to know the characters. If it's a fast burn, it can still be heavy on the smut but if I don't feel like I can tell the characters apart then I don't really care for it. With this many men, I think the best way I've seen it done was with Their Vampire Queen. She did have multiple books to do it but even if this one was longer and had more time with Althea getting to know the guys then I would have probably liked this a whole heck of a lot more.  The spice in this ...

End of the Month Wrap Up- March 26

Image
This was another good month of reads! I was able to get some ARCs in this month and had started some amazing series. Unfortunately that has meant that my re-read of books has come almost to a screeching halt. I have tried to listen to as many of my re-reads as possible but with a few of them not having audio books yet, they have kind of slipped to the way side. I do intend to go back to some of them this month however. I just have to decide which ones that I would like to revisit. As for the books that I read this month, there are some authors that I am definitely adding to my must read list and I plan on starting on their backlog as soon as I can! With that being said, let's jump into it! This month I was able to read 15 amazing books! Let's recap them and then jump into the superlatives!         Favorite Character  - Ondine : I enjoyed getting to know Ondine and watching her come into her own. She wasn't someone who even fully accepted herself but d...
