God of Ruin - Review

I almost didn't want this crazy train to pull into the station! What does it say about me that my favorite books in this series have been with the two psychotic of the MMC's? I loved Kill and I love Lan! I really enjoyed reading about Lan and Mia's story. Though whew, that was some heavy stuff to deal with at the end. I definitely did not pick up on that little side quest we went on. Like how did that even happen? Lan is out here just getting beat up. Like almost the entire book. The guys from the previous books (minus Niko) definitely gave him some bruising he isn't going to forget soon (he definitely kept reminding us). There is a character in this book that I didn't expect to hate so much. Like....I know that others have forgiven them for what they have done. But legit, it would take me years in order to get over what they did. I was a little in shock. Like the other books though, this one builds on the events that we see happening around some of the other chara...

Natural Born Killers - Review

We have finally reached the end of the road for Dean and Avalon's story! I was so excited to finally get all the details behind who Avalon's parents are. In this book we finally get some resolution to a lot of the questions that were unanswered in the first book. Some of these I already guessed while the others were not anything that I thought was going to happen. So without spoilers lets get into it. Avalon gets a lot of resolution in this book. From confronting her mother about the information that they'd managed to gather, to getting back at the people who she found out orchestrated a lot of the problems for her. I loved getting to see her get revenge. With that being said, this book is definitely a lot more bloody and a lot more unhinged than the previous books were. It kinda had to be for the things that we had to get through with these characters. As for Dean, he was able to show us and Avalon that he's standing ten toes down for her. I mean, we kinda did know t...

You Shouldn't Have Come Here - Review

Image
So this book is totally different from what I normally read, I decided to pick it up for a book club that I've joined. Nothing against this author but this is just not a favorite genre of mine. I always find myself looking at the characters like...are you stupid! Not to mention it's really hard to write non spoiler reviews for books like this since I don't want to give away anything. So I'm going to do my best to not spoil. This book is about a woman who (for some strange reason) went to an AirBNB in a random town in the middle of no where that was owned by a man. Ok, pause, this was my first what the heck moment. It happened in literally one chapter. I couldn't believe that a woman would be out here going to an AirBNB on her own, to a random town, that's owned by a random man. I know that this probably is something that happens more often then I think but......this man literally lived in the house WITH her. This man is named Calvin. He lives in this small town...

A Kingdom of Blood and Magic - Review

I went into this one with the expectation that there would be little to no spice.  I really appreciate that the author kinda keys you know in the beginning that there wasn't going to be any, instead of getting surprised later. However there was a lot of heavy petting that I can't wait to come to fruition. In this book we meet Mareina and I really liked her. Strong FMCs are always a W in my book. She still has her moments where she was soft but it was only to those who deserved it. Another big W. She was a well balanced character in my opinion. The MMCs were a well. I like Nakoa and Malakei, even though we didn't get much of Malakei. I hope we see more of him in book 2. I'm very split on how I feel about the two of the MMCs. Nakoa seems like the hero that would sacrifice his love for the world, while Malakei is the opposite. Nakoa understands coming from nothing and struggling to be better while Malakei seems like he could be a rule follower that judges. They...

Broken Wolf Heart - ARC Review

We definitely take a step further into the dark side in this one. With both of Lexi and Grey having to deal with the darkness that they've inherited. I enjoyed getting back into this world and finally seeing how things could possibly be with these two at the helm. Things were definitely on go from the first chapter to the last. Everything has started to shift in their favor but the little things are what needed to shake for them to get things right. After the events of the last book, the little dominoes started to fall and we were able to get more knowledge of what happened to Lexi. I hope that some of the people that we meet in this book will either get their own book or that they will get some more "screen" time in the next book. It's definitely going to be interesting seeing as we already know who the "bad guy" is going to be in the next book. I was not expecting things to go the way that it has. I was seriously hoping for a different outcome in that ar...

Watch Me Burn - ARC Review

Another great entry in the Hudson Yards series!! I couldn't wait to see how things were going to go for Aaron and this story definitely didn't disappoint! Getting to see this different side to Aaron was interesting. Getting to see how Caterina and Aaron were able to get together was an great story. It was a nice to see how they went from literal enemies to lovers. From a shaky alliance to the partners in crime. It was a story of two people who had a lot of trauma to deal with, get together and make things work. I was a little unsure how things was going to go at first but as things progressed, it was fascinating. I am extremely interested in seeing how things are going to continue. Aaron and Caterina have a finished story but everything isn't done with what happened to them. Of course this spreads to Tristan and another character that we meet in the story. I believe that these two are going to make a reappearance in Tristan's story for sure. The only thing that I woul...

Sick Boys - Review

Well, this book took me all over the place and sometimes, I didn't know if I liked it or not. The story itself was ok. We meet Penelope who is on the hunt to discover who killed her sister. In doing so she ends up running into the Sick Boys. So, ill start with the things I didn't like and we'll finish up with what I did like. Firstly, the spitting. Omg, its my one thing that I hate. I cant stand spit and there is a ton of spitting in this book. In mouths, on body parts, in faces. It was a lot. The next thing was how they immediately went to the name calling and our FMC was immediately hot for it. Like....we aren't even going to warm up to it or nothing huh. Just raw dogging the word slut, and whore was wild. Definitely took some getting used to. I guess I prefer for there to be some kind of relationship first before they immediately go to the derogatory words but home girl said she liked it so I just rolled with it. The characters themselves felt pretty childish at time...
