Twist Me - Review

I had a rough time with this book. Not because it's dark romance, I love a good dark romance, but because it just didn't feel like the characters ever really fell for each other, it just felt dark. There wasn't really a moment where I felt like, ok, this guy deserves her even though he is a dark and dangerous guy. It just felt like he kidnapped this girl and brain washed someone else into making her believe she should stay. Even when she basically gave in and wanted to stay with him, it just felt like....she'd gotten used to that life and didn't want anything to change. It didn't feel like there was really any type of emotional connection anywhere in this book. Then when the random bad guys came and stole her, it was just...random. Her appendix randomly goes out...idk, I just didn't believe it. I guess, that's my issue. I wasn't sold on this story at all. I don't believe that Julian loved her. It felt like he just wanted to keep her as his pet. ...

Quicksilver - Review

Ya'll, I was not ready to leave this world. It was so enthralling! I loved the characters that we had the chance to meet, I loved the fantasical vibe of the creatures and the beings that we had the opportunity to meet. I was almost sad when I got to the end of this book. I did listen to the audible so I HAVE to wax poetic about the narrators. Both of them were amazing. I really liked the female narrator, I feel like I've listened to her before and she does a good job with the characters and bringing their emotions through in her voice. The male narrator --..-- holy $hit balls Batman....panting melting. I mean I LOVE this mans voice. There has probably only been one other male narrator so far, that I've been like YES, that's the character! This guy played the heck out of Kingfisher!! Ok, ok, I'm done drooling, back to the story review. I loved the characters in this book. Ya'll know I'm a sucker for a good side character, and the ones in this book were amazi...

Barbarians Prize - Review

Another book down in my re-read series!!! This book was another step in a positive direction for the humans who are on the Ice Planet! This time we get the story of Tiffany and Salukh! I think they had probably one of the more beautiful stories yet. Salukh wanted to save himself for the woman who he finally resonated with and Tiffany was afraid due to the abuse that she suffered. I think that this story was interesting because it definitely was giving that strong women feel. Tiffany was trying to carry her burdens alone and it wasn't really helping her at all. While I could understand some the things that she had going on and why her reactions were the way they were, it still didn't stop me from being a little frustrated with her. Of course Salukh was there to hold her and help her get through her trauma and I liked that at the end of the book, it showed that he was not the cure all for her nightmares. She still had them but he was there to help her get through them no matter...

The Death King - Review

Whew, this book has definitely reminded my why I love this authors writing. This book was so so good! I enjoyed stepping into this world of unknowns, dragons and gifted. I will say this is definitely going to be a series that I devour. Be careful of  your triggers with this one because it is definitely a dark fantasy romance. Calista is definitely a fiesta FMC who will fight for what she wants and will take nothing less. She starts out in a pretty terrible situation with no light at the end of the tunnel only to be taken and put into another situation that had the potential to be worse than the previous one that she was in. Then we also have Talon. When we first meet him, he is definitely someone who we are supposed to not like. This is definitely enemy to friends with benefits to enemies and hopefully back to lovers. One of the things I didn't really think would be a big deal that became a big deal was finding out who Calista really was. I didn't think it would matter to Ta...

Lady of Shadows - Review

Well, I am effectively waist deep in this series. There is so much to talk about here after reading this book. I really wanted Scarlett to have some more agency in this book and we definitely got her being more active instead of being a victim. I really loved seeing her step into more of her power. This almost caused the dynamic to change between her and Soren. There is so much growth left for her to go through that I can't wait to read the rest of this series. I liked that we get to know more about the other people in that we've already met and care for. Though the other POV's are very interesting....I didn't really expect for us to get Callen's perspective so much. I definitely envision him being a problem later. The whole scorned lover thing is crazy to me. I guess I can understand that he cared about her but when someone has moved on from you, it's a little insane to hang on to them as tightly as he is. I feel like she gave him a great explanation for why t...

A Hunger Like No Other - Review

Ahhh coming home to some of my favorites has been so relaxing!! I have loved getting to re-read some of the books that got me invested in this genre. This one was one of the top reads and it has definitely stood the test of time for me. Emma is someone who had so much growth in this book. From being afraid of even getting a paper cut to being a BA and taking out one of the big bads in this world. The growth was immaculate. Of course it can also be attributed to her meeting Lachlan. Even though at first things were rough between them being that he was literally just tortured for a very long time. He experience some growth too. Even though he is still very much a growly he-man, he realized that in order to let Emma be herself, he had to let go a little...or get smacked. I don't think there is much that you can dislike about this book. It introduces you to so many characters who we are going to get to know and love later that it single handedly launches this whole universe (even thou...

Lady of Darkness - Review

Well, I definitely spent all day listening to this in audiobook form. I was very hooked and very interested to see how this was going to workout. From meeting Soren in the first few pages to Callen trying to get closer to Scarlett after finding out who she actually is. Everything in this book was interesting! Now there were some lows that I want to get into before I begin spouting off how I almost instantly started book 2. So, Scarlett, is a powerful woman who is out here torturing and killing people in some creative ways...and by people I mean Fae. So imagine my surprise when she is constantly taking Ls in fights and really only wins a hand to hand with her sister. I really dislike when stories TELL us about a character and how amazing they are but then proceed to contradict that with every paragraph that we read. Like, you shouldn't have to repeatedly tell me how scary someone is in their world. I want to see it and believe it. As it stands, it almost seems like Scarlett is only...
