Dark Russian Angel - Review

This book was...different. The characters in this book did not lead you to believe that they were what they were. Like this was supposed to be a bratva romance...I guess. It definitely did not have the vibes that this is what it was. The organization that was run by Andrusha felt like a 2 man show. Like there were other people there but they didn't seem to really do much. They were just kinda there to be called on when needed. Then they weren't actual like...characters. I doubt we really learned their names. I was really surprised. The way that things played out in this book also lead me to believe that these people are just really incompetent. I understand that the one guy is supposed to be the big bad but like....NO ONE else could do anything? Like this guy was just taking out other organizations left and right without ANY  help from anyone else? Like these guys were fumbling around trying to stop him from messing up their stuff. Most of them just plain couldn't do anything. It made everyone seem like they were SAYING what they were instead of actually embodying that. I really don't like that too much in books. If you have to tell me what you are instead of me believing it then, your character might not be that good. On top of that, Olivia made the DUMBEST decisions. YOU ARE UNDER WITNESS PROTECTION MA'AM, why are you going back to your mothers house? Why are you trying to run away to some random motel where you can definitely get killed. Like she just was making the absolute worst choices. Andrusha was also not making the smartest decisions when it came to her. Especially since they were already incompetent and had all these other things going on. I just felt no menace from him, like you would expect from a Bratva boss. It definitely didn't help that Andrusha was willing to leave the organization just for this one woman. That more than anything kinda made me upset as well. I guess I prefer my mafia men to be exactly what they are and love these women hard while still being in the life. Finding ways to protect them and keep them safe is what really helps me to believe that they are who they really say they are.

The spice in this book was ok. I give it a 3 out of 5. It was ok but since I wasn't really believing in Andrusha and Olivia was making me roll my eyes, I didn't feel as connected to their characters in the story as some others. Overall, I give this book a 3 out of 5. I know that this type of character would work for someone, just not me. I think that this book would be great for those that are attempting this type of romance for the first time. It's not too dark and the characters don't really make you question them that much. Everyone is on the moral high ground really.
