Kalle - ARC Review
This was an interesting read. It was able to get me out of probably one of the worst book slumps that I have ever been in. This book took almost all the elements of sci-fi and mixed it together to make this interesting story of Kalle and how she was trying to protect her homeworld from a demon invasion. We then meet Cortan and his crew. This is where everything gets interesting. We then get into the juiciness of the story. These two have a history together. Even though they haven't really gotten the chance to really meet each other, they knew of each other. They eventually find out that together they can save Kalle's world from being taken over by the demons. Despite the fact that she is a bad ass guardian, she also has to learn to take his help. With his weird technology and secrets, they find a way to make it all work. I enjoyed the intrigue of the story and everything else that came along with it. There were some moments when I was a little meh about what was going on but it was still interesting.
The spice in this book was ok. It wasn't something that was going to have you checking the batteries but it was enough and there in the story. I give the spice a 3 out of 5. Overall, I give this story a 3 out of 5 as well. I liked the book and enjoyed it for what it was giving. There were some parts that was a little slow and kind of took me out of the experience but it still was ok. I would say this is a good book to read if you are in between reads or even if you were like me. It pulls your interest in and will keep you interested to help pull you out of a slump hopefully!
