End of the Month Wrap Up - October 25
I can't believe this month is already over! It feels like this year just started and we are already 2 months away from the end of the year! I'm already thinking of New Years resolutions, and they all involve spending more time tuning my craft. That craft of course being me making sure to give ya'll these at a more consistent time. Also to continue my video reviews, I definitely find that I enjoy giving you guys some facetime when it comes to giving these and maybe some other reviews. With all that being said, I wanna go ahead and jump into the 5 books that I was able to read this month (yes, I know, it was only five).
Favorite Character: Riley (Wicked Dark Heathens) - I really loved getting to know more about Riley in this book! As much as everyone believes that they'd be a Ava, I know I would probably be more of a Riley. She knew how to stay out of the way and she made sure to stay safe while she did the work that she needed to do. Then when she finally ends up with Abel, she isn't afraid to be all in! I really loved that about her. Also as much as she thinks that she is weak and a coward, she was strong enough to leave and try to protect the people who she was starting to care about. I admire her and can't wait to see if we get more of her and Abel in the next books.
Best Cover: Weres and Witchery - This cover is perfect for the season!! I loved this cover. It was giving the vibes of the book and of course the vibes of the season. This one definitely stuck out to me more than the others for this month. While I love people covers, I also love covers like this one that manage to encapsulate the story without giving everything away. Even though you could also feel the vibes from the name of this book as well. This one will definitely be on my list for recommended seasonal reads!
Best Narration: Captivated by You - This was such a good listen. We finally get a male narrator for Gideon's parts. Even though our female narrator has done a terrific job, I loved getting the chance to hear a man voice Gideon. It was almost startling since, I was so used to the voice that the female narrator had for him. Both did a great job bringing these characters to life!
Top Baddie: Villain in 'How to Date Your Dragon'- I definitely don't want to spoil who the killer is in this book. So this is how I will name the person who was on a killing spree in this small town. I was a little shocked when we found out who the killer was. I couldn't believe that someone like them would be the culprit. Maybe I'm not good at solving crimes but this one would have definitely surprised me if I was a resident. If you've read this book, let me know in the comments which character you thought it was? Was it your initial suspect? Were you surprised when you found out who it was?
Best Storyline: Wicked Dark Heathens - I really liked how things played out in this book. I felt like we were able to connect the dots that we suspected were there when we read of them in the first book. Getting to see a different side of Abel and knowing that he was never real with anyone that he was with up til this point and had to figure out relationship things on the fly was nice. It gave us a reminder that some of the guys have a softer edge that we don't see. While they are clearly dangerous, they are at the end of the day, human.
Spiciest Book: Captivated by You - It is going to be very hard for any book to topple Gideon and Eva when it comes to this category. They just burn up the pages with each other. It's not even the amount of spice as much as it is how it is placed within the story. These characters are so great together that it is really hard to miss how amazing their chemistry is. The author is able to make sure that we know that as well when we are reading this story. I definitely think that until I finish this series, anytime a book from this series is read in a month, just go ahead and know that it is going to be the spiciest book of the month.
Author of the Month: Lucy Smoke - I have really enjoyed the writing by this author. I am so surprised that I hadn't heard of her prior to stumbling upon this series on audible when it was free. This series has been refreshing and just what I've needed. It is deliciously dark and spicy. I have to commend her for the consistency, the spice and for making me want to read her entire backlog after I finish this series!
Book of the Month: Captivated by You/Wicked Dark Heathens - I couldn't pick between these two, so they both get it. For completely different reasons though. I had to keep Gideon and Eva here because even though this book felt a little more like fluff, the way that it was done is amazing. I am floored everytime I pick up a book in this series. I mean HOOKED! With Wicked Dark Heathens, I really liked the fact that we get to see another side of the characters in this book. These two are such a refreshing change from Dean and Ava that still managed to make me want more from their book. I really enjoyed everything about this series up til where I am now and I can't wait to read more in this series!
