Wicked Dark Heathens - Review

We finally get the story behind what happened with Able and Riley in this book! I was curious from the first moment that I read about their awkwardness in Dean and Avalon's story! Seeing these two get together finally was like watching your best friend get together with the person they had been dancing around for the longest time. It was nice to watch. They definitely had less to deal with than Dean and Avalon did in their books but it was no less intense! Your childhood boogey man coming to get you is definitely something that you don't want to deal with and poor Riley was trying to deal with it on her own. I understand why she made the choices that she did, in the end it was kinda smart but at the same time a little bit silly when you are dealing with the caliber of people that she knows at the school. When the past finally did come back to bite her, it was crazy to see how delusional people can make themselves. Even to the point that they are smart about it. On another note, getting to see Dean and Avalon again was nice. Seeing how much Dean has been a positive influence on Ava, as well as finally putting her demons to rest, was a very nice change. Her and Riley bonding in this book more than they did in the previous 3 books was exactly what my heart needed. I can't wait to see if we get more of them being besties in the next few books in this series.

As for the spice, it was definitely very nice. I would give this a 3 out of 5. It wasn't like super spicy but it was definitely there. I mean we are talking about Abel Frasier here. This man was literally used like a prostitute by his father. He definitely knew what he was doing. I am glad though that he was able to also get some healing with Riley. Finally being seen as someone who has their own thoughts and feelings and not having to force it for the many people that his father made him pretend for was great. I know that the Sick Boys have a lot of healing to do. With the loss of their fathers and the menacing presence that they brought to them, they are going to have to rediscover who they are without them. As well as coming to terms with being the ones that ended them. Overall, I really liked this book. Getting to see the healing that both sides were able to get from the other was very nice after the intense heaviness of the previous 3 books in this series. Everyone seemed so much lighter, but I know that it's only momentary since we are going to be jumping back into the thick of things probably with the upcoming books. I can't wait to get started on those! I have really run through this series and have really enjoyed everything about it! I would definitely recommend this book and this series to anyone who is looking for a dark contemporary read with dark boys and the darker girls who love them.
