Elevator Pitch - Review

This was another amazing read for this month! Wow, this book deals with all kinds of trauma and recovery. It's not like super heavy trauma but it is enough that a lot of people could probably see themselves through the eyes of the main characters. It's really the little things in life that we go through that can cause trauma that we don't even know about or are ready to realize that we need to heal from. I loved getting to see Selah as she navigated trying to do things that are outside of her comfort zone so that she could become the new person that she wanted to be. She embraced the hard conversations and was ready for a new beginning. Even if that beginning ended up scaring her in the long wrong. Then we also meet Grayson, who is also navigating trauma. He doesn't even realize that he is until he meets Selah and learns that he too needed help healing from the damage of a past relationship. I loved meeting the side characters in this book as well! Everyone was so funny and were the type of friends that we all wish we had or that we are to someone else. Also the cultural representation in this one was very nice.

The spice! Whew the spice was really good. Especially since the characters were so well matched for each other. I would give the spice a 4 out of 5. Overall, I think this has been my favorite read of February so far. The way the characters went about healing individually and with each other was so nice. Everyone needs a Grayson in their lives. It was so real to see him go through a divorce and how it impacted him and then deal with being kinda friends with his ex wife. I mean...she invited him to her wedding....Overall I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a nice romance read. One that has the power to touch you and help you realize that you too deserve a cozy reading nook. Perfect for those who enjoy IR and healing in their reads.
