A Kingdom This Cursed and Empty - Review

I liked this book. Definitely not as much as the first one but it was still good. If I have to hear about how much Lorian and Priska can't be together one more time. I'm gonna through a piece of fae iron at someone. I literally don't understand why this is such a crazy point that everyone can't stop talking about. I think that politically this would actually be a great idea. It would help to firmly align the fae and the hybrids together so that something like what happened before didn't happen again. Instead, everyone is steady swearing Priska away from Lorian except her bestie. Of course the bestie is right and everyone else can freaking shove it. I also was hoping that Priska would eventually realize that she can't blame herself for every mistake she makes. Even if that mistake cost a life. Someone had to make the choice and sometimes there is no right answer. That is something that she's going to need to learn as ruler. That's something her aunt needs to start drilling into her so we can stop having the pity parties. Though I understand them. I'm very interested in seeing where things will go in the next book. I think it was interesting to get the perspective of the Queen in this book. Now she doesn't just seem like some random person who was allowing things to occur and felt nothing. We see her scheme and how she harbors such anger towards the King. She is making her own moves and I can't wait to see how these machinations play out.

The spice in this book was good. I liked that Lorian and Priska are no longer fighting what they feel for each other and they don't really have to hide either. Even though they are CONSTANTLY reminded by the people in their lives that they can't be together. I would give the spice a 4 out of 5. Overall, I enjoyed this book and am actually ready to fight about the ending. Why rip our hearts out like this! Not with this character who we just bonded with! I was in such shock that I just really wanted to speed to the end of the book but the end happened right then! STACIA!! WHYYYYYY?!?!?!?!? Needless to say, I would definitely recommend this book. Though I will say, things have a completely different vibe in this book than the first. We go from Priska taking orders to her being the main one giving them. So be ready for that. Otherwise, solid second entry in this series!
