A Fate of Wrath & Flame - Review

I will say, that I was very surprised by this book. If you look at my recent reads, you'd think I'm on a binge of this author. It was purely unintentional. Going from Wolf Hotel to this is such a jarring change. Not only because one series is a contemporary romance and the other is a fantasy novel but because there is such a huge drop in the spice level and quality. I was expecting the same thing even though the genres are so different. I had to slog through this book. Romeria was getting on my last nerves for most of this book. Granted she is thrown into a crazy situation (like seriously, what the hell) but I really did have some serious eye rolls happening. I mean seriously, this situation is honestly quite wild. I'm not saying that I would handle it any better but idk. She was getting on my nerves. Actually a lot of them were getting on my nerves. The whole "let's keep secrets that are life changing" thing was gonna drive me up a wall and around the bend. Not to mention the treatment of people in this world was insane. Everyone hates everyone for one reason or another and it's like...how are ya'll living in this world. With all that being said, after the annoyance was over the story is good. Everyone is a pawn in a greater story that you know you are reading. I just need people to stop being annoying. Ironically, I'd read the next book just to see where things go. I am indeed interested but I feel like Romeria and Zander are going to be back at stage one again and lord, idk how long I can handle their back and forth.

The spice in this was ok. Like I said coming from Wolf Hotel to this was like taking an ice plunge. I gave this a 3 out of 5 for spice. Overall I gave this book a 3 out of 5. It's a good start to a new series. The characters are interesting on their own and I would love to learn how they got to be where they are. I want to know what the overarching story is here with the gods and the different worlds. The fact that they still have Romeria's body in our world while she's running around in this other world, is also very interesting to me. I want to see how all of that plays out. Just know that if you are a fan of KA Tucker and you're coming from Wolf Hotel, don't expect Henry Wolf here. Don't expect the level of incredible spice here either...at least in this first book. Time will tell with the others.
