Fated Frenzy - Review

This book started out strong!! I really enjoyed reading a book that has someone who was from my state in it. That was definitely something that was kind of a hook for me. I also really liked that she was someone who felt like she was an outcast and was looking for her place in the world. I think almost every Sci-Fi romance reader was hoping to one day be Nala. She got the opportunity to live out the dream and she took it with open arms! It was refreshing to have a character that saw something different and allowed herself to be taken on the journey instead of balking at everything and doing and caring about what everyone else thought. She is living in a completely alien world and instead of holding to many of our hang ups, she embraces them. Meeting the guys was a very fast experience and she fell for the extremely fast as well. There was a lot here that I was hoping would be left for world building. Which there was some of that done for sure. We have a whole alien planet and power system to learn but I thought the relationships could have taken more time to develop. I didn't really get a chance to feel the difference between the characters. I feel like I was told rather than felt that from them. The same goes for their ferocity. We were told how fierce they all are, how much others would fear all of them coming together to make a power group. You don't really experience it in action even though they face adversity, they seem to get not only outsmarted but also out powered. That was kind of a let down. Towards the end of the story, it started to feel like there was so many things being thrown at us that it was information overload. Everything felt a little jumbled to me and it moved very fast. Like, I was thinking that her heat would last for awhile and she'd need like all of her mates....nope. It lasted for like a few hours and she only needed 2 of them. Also we kind of gloss over her going through transition even though everyone was making this huge deal about it. Only for it to take place in probably less than a paragraph with not really much happening with it.

The spice in this book was ok. Since I didn't really get a chance to get connected to the characters it felt like "oh ok". Which I love a good spicy scene. If it happens quick, I usually have no problem with it but I also like a connection to be built. Something! I don't know, I've had books that throw the spice at you quickly with the MCs and sometimes it connects and other times it doesn't. This was one of those doesn't times. I give this a 3 out of 5 for the spice. Overall, I give this book a 3. If the end had the same development as the beginning then I would have appreciated this book more. It has all the ingredients to be a great alien romance. Just make me fall for the guys without almost getting lost in sauce and not believing in their amazing strength. I would say this would be a good introduction for those who are either dabbling in sci-fi romance. As always, try this book out for yourself!
