A Touch of Ruin - Review
I have never yelled so much at a character as I did Persephone in this book. I mean, my goodness!! She was everywhere and doing everything but what she needed to do. I was ready to throw the book (I was listening on audible) down a long hallway! Jeeze, it was almost like watching a teenager through a tantrum. Of course I also had to remember that she is still new to the mortal world and was caged for a long time. Still....her reactions were driving me crazy. I can't wait to read the events that happened in this book from Hades POV. I mean Persephone was well and truly being a brat. They fought at any and all opportunity. I didn't even know if they were going to make up at some points. I'm glad they did and Hades has the patience of a saint! I definitely had to stop the audio a few times just to calm down from her antics. It got a little better towards the end but she is pretty annoying through out. I'm glad that she has the friends that she does because they were also very patient with her. Then again, they are gods, who have seen people act rashly from momentary emotions for awhile, so it's understandable. I did still enjoy this book even though Persephone made me get a few extra wrinkles while reading it.
The spice in this book was nice!! All the moments that Hades and Persephone had to make up with each other in this book was punctuated with some great spicy scenes. I have to give them a 4 out of 5 for spice! Overall, I definitely would recommend this book to anyone who liked the first book in this series. Though I would also let them know that Persephone took her annoying level up to a 10,000.00. Maybe, I'm jaded because I have read so many of these books but I just was on another level of annoyed when she was surprised that Hades couldn't help her with the problem she was having. She knows how things work in that world and so the fact that she thought she was an exception to the rules was crazy. I'm glad in the end, she kinda came to terms with what happened but getting there was like pulling teeth. It did have the added perk of maybe adding another god to her corner but sheesh. So just know that you will be annoyed by her but I did feel like the end almost made it worth it. I plan to continue the series.
