End of the Month Wrap Up - January 26
Favorite Character - Poppy (The Crown of Gilded Bones): Poppy has been taking everything that has come at her and she kept on chugging. I really enjoyed her in this series re-read. Especially in The Crown of Gilded Bones. Seeing her talk that talk to her mother was just what I needed from her and more. I was definitely super hyped again when she made told The Blood Queen what she did at the end of this book. Poppy hasn't been annoying to me and with her relationship with the other characters in this book has made me love her all over again.
Best Cover - God of Fury: There is not much that can beat these covers in my opinion. I am so glad that I was able to get all of them before they were changed to the newer covers. I mean, these cover models do such a good job of capturing the vibe of the characters on the covers. Like yes...this is Nikolai. Usually I have to change the image in my head when they have model covers because it doesn't match the description in my head. This one however....spot on. Perfection.
Best Narration - God of Fury (HM: A Game of Retribution): So, this one was hard to choose from. I really like the narrator for A Game of Retribution (Tyler Donne) and it was so such a memorable listen that I had to give some recognition as well. However, the duet with Teddy Hamilton and Shane East was top freaking tier. I really enjoyed this book so much thanks to the narration! Big shout out to them for making this one great!
Spiciest Book - Heat for Hire: I feel like this one speaks for itself. This was a nice spicy alien read. I ate this up! Omegaverse AND alien? Yeah, I downloaded this faster than you could say oh my. This is definitely was H O T. If you didn't know anything about omegaverse than this is definitely a book that would not only introduce you but it will have you coming back for more of it!
Top Baddie - The Syndicate (HM: Talwyn): This one was hard to choose because both of these made me almost shed a tear. Talwyn (Lady of Ashes) was getting on my nerves from almost our first meeting with her. Then her actions in this book solidified my extreme dislike of her. It's going to take a lot to redeem her in my eyes and I hope that Scarlet beat the breaks off her when she catch her. Sorry...some of that anger is coming out. Anyway, The Syndicate....whew. They have been a dark presence since the first book in this series and they solidified themselves as one of the top worse organizations out there. I mean we lose a whole character due to them in this book! I was so sad when I read that.
Best Storyline - The Throne of Broken Gods: I really enjoyed reading this one. Getting to see Diana be a menace to everyone who wronged her was delicious. Then again, also seeing her deal with the grief of losing her sister was so deep. It really touched me how everyone let her in and accepted her after realizing that she would burn the world down for those that matter to her. Then the cleansing of her soul by Samkiel was so healing. I really enjoyed this book. Almost more than I liked the first one.
Author of the Month - Jennifer Armentrout: I had to name JLA for this one. The way I started the re-read of Blood and Ash thanks to a book club, and ended up devouring the first 3 books in this series should be documented. I mean I ate this up so quick! I fell in love with Poppy, Cas, Kieran, Tawny and everyone else all over again. You really just can't help doing so. I loved that it also was able to drag some people into the world of Romantasy who didn't want to give it a chance before. I can't wait to dive deep back into this series and the Flesh and Fire series!
Book of the Month - Under Your Scars: This book left me in such a state of shock that there was no other choice for book of the month. I mean, I had to tell several people about this book because I just couldn't believe what I read! This was a buddy read with some people from my book club and let me tell ya. I don't think any of us was prepared for how the journey that this book took us on. The author states at the beginning that this is a romantic tragedy so we knew going in that we were going to lose someone. What ended up transpiring was just...wow. I mean, my entire mouth was agape by the ending. The narration was really good too. I mean Joe Arden voiced his a$$ off. If you are ok with all I just said and haven't read this book yet then you need to. This is definitely a dark romance so check your triggers before you dive in but afterwards. Come back to me and let me know how you're holding up.
