The Mistakes of our Forefathers

Image
This book was the first one I've DNFd this year I believe. I just couldn't do it guys. So this review is going to be short. I really didn't like this book. I tried to like it up until 50% and I just couldn't do it. I'll give you a few reasons why this book didn't resonate with me.     First things first,  Nico didn't scream alpha to me. You know there are characters where the author manages to make the alpha literally be felt through the pages? Well that's what I'm looking for usually when I'm reading a shifter book and there is an alpha who is throwing around these claims of being strong and able to do all this stuff. Well Nico wasn't checking those boxes for me. He didn't seem respected by the people around him and the other alpha in the book definitely didn't seem like he thought he was either. It felt more like it was being said but not acted upon. Another thing, since he was being set up to be with a woman who we...

The Trauma We Bear

Image
This was such a great read!! I loved getting to know Dom and Sloane! I almost didn't wanna leave them when I was finished with this book! It's so refreshing to read a story about two black leads who are successful and not praising drugs and being in that life. I enjoy a mob and bratva book like the next person but for some reason, reading about POC characters in that light annoys me. I believe it's due to public perception being...of course THOSE people are involved in this type of thing. I hate reading it. So this was a great read and honestly, I'm going to be looking for more from this author because this book was damn near perfect imo. The drama that could have ensued due to the relationship our main characters have with each other had me on the edge of my seat. I knew it would be a HEA but I just didn't know how it was going to get there. Both of these characters had so much emotional and traumatic damage that seeing them navigate through it all...

Earning Her Stripes

Image
This series so far has been so interesting!! I've loved watching each of the men break down a little and fall for Chiara. I've also been enjoying watching her get stronger and like the title here implies, earn her stripes. In this book we get more background on each of the guys and what happened to their sisters. It was so tragic learning about the sisters. I kinda got the feeling that we knew who the killer was and by the end of this book we definitely seem to get confirmation on that. I can't say I'm disappointed because it started to get obvious. I think in the next book we're going to see even more growth from Chiara and a lot of blood shed from her men. I also feel like her dad has something to do with what's going on. It's a feeling I just can't shake but we'll see!!     The spice in this book is relatively good. We even get a nice Lil gangbang scene in this one. If give it a 3.5 it if 5 on the spice scale. I loved the intimacy ...

Why Read Romance?

Image
The typical answer I think that people think to get when they ask why does someone read romance is because they are missing out on something. They don't have actual romance in their real lives so they have to read about it through books. Which for the most part is not true. Most of the people who I know and interact with who are huge readers of the romance genre are married women...happily married women. It's more about the excitement that comes along with the story that has falling in love at the core. Seeing these big strong men who usually don't bend for anyone decide to take a step back and make an exception for this special person in their lives is a beautiful thing to see. Not to mention being able to relate to a character who has been through a situation is even better when it works out for them when it may not have worked out for you. I mean when someone reads a murder mystery do...

Communication is Key

Image
This is a review for an ARC I received of a Reverse Harem, Omegaverse novel. I will say, I have not been a fan of mixing these two together. When I first read omegaverse novels it was great because it was a different take on the normal relationship. The dynamics is what made it so interesting!! I like my Reverse Harems now, don't get me wrong....just not in this genre. So with that being said I'm a little biased but I think I can give my review without that influencing my thoughts. Let a jump into it!     Like the title implies communication in this book was not the greatest and our FMC, Willow, was out here just doing her own thang. This translated into her being kidnapped, frustration with her mates and her jumping a plane to confront people who are the reason she was kidnapped. It was a little...strange. All of these breakdowns in communication had nothing to do with her being unable to speak but everything to do with trust and her being a l...

Beautiful Endings

Image
It has finally happened, I finished the Lost Sentinel series and now I'm sad. It was such a good read. I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I wasn't sure what to expect from this one but it was kinda a segue into another series. I definitely going to try that series. I'm wondering who this one will be focused around if not Suryn. I haven't read the blurb yet but I definitely will.     I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys reverse Harem read with bad ass FMCs and the men who love her. I'd give this series about 4 stars overall. The spice was around a level 2.5. It was nice when it was there but I kinda wanted more. She had 7  men for goodness sake!! Take those guys too bone town!! Everything else was pretty great. The story, the surprises and the ending were just perfect!!

End of The Month Wrap Up

Image
Wow it's the end of the month already!! I'm going to start doing a wrap up for the month starting...now!! So far we've gotten 5 books read this month. While, I was hoping for more, I will definitely take it!! I'm going to be ranking the books that I've read this year and then putting them in certain categories. Bare with me as we try to get through this and make it the best version of itself. You will more than likely see different versions of this based on the particular month. Here are the 5 books that I have up for this month: First Comes Blood by Lilith Vincent Queen of Myth and Monsters by Scarlett St. Clair Blood Orange by Karina Halle The Dark King by Gina Maxwell Crimson Kiss by Lyra Winters Hottest Spicy Scenes:   Blood Orange- Whew the scenes in this book could burn down the most stout church goers panties in a zero seconds flat! Dahlia and Valtu knew what they were doing with each other!! I love the rough scenes and this had more than it's fair...
