A Kingdom of Blood and Fate - ARC Review

Image
This was an interesting story. I was definitely hooked from the beginning. This focuses on Caz, Caspian and Bri. I definitely had a different idea of how things were going to go and they went a complete opposite way. Not a bad way just a different way. I enjoyed getting to know Bri and Caspian in this book. Even though it ends up being a weird why choose situation (you'll have to read it to find out) we really spend most of the time with Caspian and Bri. We get some time with Caz but since Bri has already had so much life experience with him prior to us meeting him, most of the time is spent getting to know Caspian. I definitely really liked Caspian. Though I almost wanted to see more of the ruthlessness in him. What makes his siblings respect him other than the fact that he's the oldest? Of course we do get to see a ruthless side of him when it came to dealing with anything with Bri. I liked the world that was created in this story with the two halves of one soul and how the ...

Our Vicious Oaths - Review

I have no idea how to feel after listening to this book. I am extremely conflicted. I feel the same way I felt after reading another book from last year. I wanted to DNF but at the same time I couldn't look away from the crash that I was witnessing. So this will have spoilers, I usually try to stay away from them in reviews but I also feel like I can't accurately describe my feelings of what I listened to without them. So first lets start with my feelings towards Kadeesha. I liked her in the beginning but she just felt very lackluster. Like she tells us how strong she is and what-not but I didn't believe her. There was no instance where she proved exactly what she said and what we were being told. At every instance she was being shown to be weaker than those that she was around. So I'm left with thinking that she is average and has this over inflated sense of power for herself. She also didn't even seem to really like Malachi. Yeah they had some great smex together...

Elevator Pitch - Review

Image
This was another amazing read for this month! Wow, this book deals with all kinds of trauma and recovery. It's not like super heavy trauma but it is enough that a lot of people could probably see themselves through the eyes of the main characters. It's really the little things in life that we go through that can cause trauma that we don't even know about or are ready to realize that we need to heal from. I loved getting to see Selah as she navigated trying to do things that are outside of her comfort zone so that she could become the new person that she wanted to be. She embraced the hard conversations and was ready for a new beginning. Even if that beginning ended up scaring her in the long wrong. Then we also meet Grayson, who is also navigating trauma. He doesn't even realize that he is until he meets Selah and learns that he too needed help healing from the damage of a past relationship. I loved meeting the side characters in this book as well! Everyone was so funn...

Escorting the Yakuza - Review

Image
I really enjoyed this book! I feel like we had a lot more issues to deal with in this one than we did in the first one. I liked how much deeper it felt like the author went with these characters and how their dynamics worked. They had a lot to deal with between Shinji and Angel (her name by the end of the book). From Angel's severe trauma to Shinji's secret, there was a lot going on for the crew. I really liked getting to know more about each of them. We got to love them as individual characters as well as love them together. Even though we joined in on Shinji and Takeshi after they were together, none of that mattered because we got to see glimpses of how they got together. I always love getting a chance to see characters that we have met in the previous books whenever it's a series. Even if it's just short glimpses of them as they interact with each other. With this one that was still the case, even though we didn't really get to see much of Portia. It would have...

Taming Kane - Review

Image
Since this review will not be posted to my socials, this will have spoilers. I did not really like this book. It was doing too much yet not enough at the same time. It felt like things were just happening and everyone was ok with it. Like, there was no chance to take anything in, everyone just accepted everything. Then there was agreements over silly things. It felt to me like the author hadn't really read any other shifter type novels before they wrote this one. Maybe this is their first shifter novel? For example, Kane felt very disconnected from his wolf. I have read books where the wolf and the man are separate entities living in one body with almost one mind, as well as books where they couldn't separate the two mentally from each other. When Kane allowed his wolf out to play with Tammy, it just felt like he was out of control and she was truly around a wild wolf. Not to mention her reaction was....interesting. I mean she yelled at the wolf. A lot of her reactions were......

How to Fail at Avoiding an Alpha Demon - Review

Image
I had a great time reading this book. Even though things moved a little fast, it didn't feel like things were developing without cause. We had enough time to sit with the developments and move on. This omegaverse read was a little different to what I was used to. With Devin almost giving cinnamon roll vibes instead of alpha vibes. There was a lot more wiggle room in their relationship than I was expecting. I did like the difference sometimes. I enjoyed getting to know this world and the people in it. Even though there was discrimination and all that happening to the demons in this world, it is still fantastical. I loved that there are dynamics in this world along with the different supernatural creatures that we already know and love. The characters were engaging and had a little something that I think a lot of readers would like. Again the side characters were even good! I really hope we get something with Kent!  The spice in this book was nice. I enjoyed seeing Devin and Sh...

Chosen - Review

Image
This was interesting. I liked the story and how things were explained for the world. However, there were some small inconsistencies that bothered me. Were all the old people who were disappearing shifters? If they were, why the heck were they in a nursing home? The way the world is set up would lead you to believe that the shifters sighs never allow this type of thing to happen with their elders. If they weren't then what the heck was the point of them being experimented on? My guy got upset about one group of shifters killing his family and was like... yeah no one deserves to be a shifter. I just don't see how he expected this to play out. The betrayer.... like... he kinda had a valid reason I guess but also.... what the heck was the end game here? Now you're in jail for what??? Lost everything you hold dear for what?? What was the reason?? Idk i just don't think a lot of things was thought through entirely by some of the characters. I still liked this book enough that...

Maid for the Yakuza - Review

Image
This book showcased something that we as woman would love from our men...emotional intelligence. Katsuo is a really good man and even though he still made mistakes he was willing to accept and love everything about Portia. He helped her to rediscover a part of her that she almost forgot existed. There wasn't many times that I had an issue with the things that he did. Even when Portia had a problem, I was willing to overlook it because he was so amazing. I will say I was a little surprised by what happened at the end of this book. I did not suspect that at all. My only thing with Katsuo was that he was very much kill happy. Someone got in his way, it was time to kill them. I did like that everyone was accepting of not only Portia being black but also her kids and Takeshi. I thought there would be more issues brought up than there was but it all just...worked out.  The spice in this book was plentiful and good. Portia and Katsuo kept it spicy for us. Definitely a 4 out of...

End of the Month Wrap Up - January 26

Image
I can't believe January is already over! It seemed like it breezed by, we were just celebrating the holidays and here we are, in February already. Since this is the first wrap up for this year, I want to use this time to state what I want from this year in my book world. A resolution of sorts. I want to get you guys this wrap up as soon as I can. I usually end up holding back on it since sometimes I am reading something that I want to finish and hope to get done before the month ends. So you'll probably never get this on the first of the new month but more so around this time of the month. Hopefully, I won't have to double up like I did with some of them last year. I also want to get the video wrap ups out and done around the same time or at least, before the middle of the month. I am working on getting better with editing so we will see how that works. This year, I am hoping to read 100 books again! So far, we are starting out on fire! This month I managed to read 16 books...

Vicious Society - Review

Image
This was a good conclusion to the story for Xavier and Delilah, although I really want to see if he sticks to his plan and gets married to Delilah. We get to see the conclusion of the trials and these two really accept each other as they navigate through this dangerous world. Delilah did get on my nerves a few times. She was brave at the oddest times. Then again we do see her have this random heart defect that seemed to come out of no where. I was a little surprised when this turn happened. It didn't really add anything to the story other than to show just how ruthless Xavier is when it comes to making sure that Delilah is safe. Also some of the side characters, while good really took a back seat here. Other than her foster brother we don't get to see much of anyone else. I almost forgot about her roommate until we randomly see her again and that's it for her. She was such a driving force in the first one that it was surprising to see her kinda disappear in this one. Then...

Gild - Review

Image
I've decided to start another series re-read! This one has unraveled slower than I remember it happening when I originally read it. I think if just this book was out and I didn't have the others to dive into immediately, then I would have probably put this one down and now come back to it. I say that because this world and everything in it takes awhile to develop. The characters, are written well enough that it doesn't really take you long to latch onto them. When they go away you definitely miss their presence. Even the ones that we aren't meant to like, you remember them. Even if some of them we never will get a chance to like, you kinda understand why they feel the way they do. Just from the moments that they interact with our FMC. In this book we really only get things from Auren's POV. We get one small chapter of Midas but otherwise it's all her. The world is a little sad when viewed through her lens.I definitely want more for her. You can definitely see wh...

Choosing Theo - Review

Image
This book was short and spicy!! I enjoyed it! We meet Jade who is a human who ends up getting kidnapped and sent to the planet Cleclain. It's pretty much a woman's heaven. Beautiful men try to get women to choose them for a short marriage to see if they're compatible. Men do everything for women here, from working to provide to cooking, childcare and anything the woman can imagine. They are rated on their skills and tested on their abilities to please. Sounds amazing right? Well for some reason Jade wanted to go back to earth. I didn't understand that but eventually she decided to stay after getting married to Theo. Who is a scared and dangerous man. Theo apparently isn't desirable to a Cleclainian woman due to his scars but to an earth woman he's gorgeous and gives off the vibes that any woman would be attracted to. After finding out who kidnapped her from earth she is able to bond with Theo and they stay together. I liked the story and how things p...

On Wings of Blood - Review

Image
This book left me feeling strange. I liked the plot of the story....I didn't read the series before so Meedra is new to me. I liked how she's coming into this world and has to learn kinda on the run and while she finds some similarities with her world, she also is walking in blind to a whole different society. So we are learning with her. This world is kinda trash...or maybe it's just this country but it's very trash. The vamps essentially have the humans worship them and they can do literally anything to them with impunity. At the same time they need them since they have the blood that nourishes them. For some reason, we kinda get a hint of what it might actually be, the people here don't really question anything and just literally suffer through life as bottom tier people. I mean there are kids begging on the streets, people randomly dying, and getting sacrificed while the vamps are just like...whoops. There doesn't really seem to be any kind of checks and ba...

Claimed by the Horde King - Review

Image
I enjoyed this book more than I enjoyed the first one! The chemistry between these two characters as well as the story itself was just fantastic. I loved Nelle and her fearlessness! Her need to ask questions, her strength, everything about her. Seerin was also really good! His strength and determination to do better for himself was commendable. He wanted better for his people and you could see it in his actions. Together they were a great couple that really helped heal the other. I enjoyed being in this amazing and crazy world.  The spice was H O T. The chemistry in top of the primal energy that they gave off made the spice very enjoyable. I give it a 4 out of 5! Overall I really liked this book. The groveling that Seerin had to do, the growth that we see from Nelle and the realization from Seerin , that he can do this on his own.  It was a really great story and I would definitely recommend it to all my alien living girlies!!!

The Crown of Guilded Bones - Review

Image
I really enjoyed this book! It was such a nice continuance of the series! We got so many answers to questions and yet so many more questions to ask. I enjoyed getting to see Poppy and Cas step into their own. They have both been through so much and are growing in not only themselves but also within their relationship. We see them both get crowned as King and Queen of Atlantia and then still have to deal with attempts on Poppy from the Unseen. We also get to see more of the culture of the people of Atlantia which I really enjoyed. Then of course some things started going steeply down hill. With reveals that shook the foundation of everything that we've known up til this point. Poppy delivering that last line had me screaming in triumph for her! I can't wait to see how things continue in the next book! The spice in this book was nice. It's still relatively tame but enjoyable. I give it a 3 out of 5. Overall, this book was a nice addition to the story and has given us so muc...

A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire - Review

Image
This book was a good follow up to the first book! We get to see how the fall out of Cas' announcement affects everyone involved. From there we see how Cas and Poppy's relationship changed from one where she is angry and distrustful of him to one where they have come together and are able to admit to each other what they really feel. It was a beautiful thing to see. However, it has been quite annoying to see how the rest of the people have reacted to Poppy. She has suffered abuse from every corner it seems like. It doesn't stop just because a few people have realized she isn't what they think. I think that the story is unraveling nicely and doesn't feel rushed. We get to spend time at each place with all the characters and we begin to feel close to them. Of course that means when something happens to them it affects us that much more. I really like the world building in this book. As someone who is re-reading this series, it's interesting to see the little brea...

End of the Year Wrap Up 2025

Image
Finally, I am able to get this out!! 2025 was a rough year and I was barely able to make my goal of 100 books read in the year. I want to thank all the authors who took a chance on me and allowed me to hype their books. I am a small influencer who is quiet and sometimes finds it hard to post things. However, I try to make sure to post reviews for them. I was able to go back and read some books that I have loved over the years. I also was able to read some new series that have sucked me in and made me love them. So with that being said, you know what time it is. Superlatives time!! I was able to grab the top 5 books from certain categories and then selected my top book for each category. I'll break some of them down below. Give some of these authors, series and books a read! Best Of: Dark Romance:       God of Ruin - Rina Kent                             ...
